Description

ONE LITTLE LIE. A WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE.

Moments after meeting the most gorgeous guy ever, Gabby Winters promptly gets stung by a zillion yellowjackets and falls-not gracefully-into a stream. Yup, Ethan Hunter is trouble with a capital "hot," and Gabby definitely needs to keep her distance. Except in the small town of Haven, there's nowhere to hide from Ethan's sexy, infectious grin . . . and all the residents are conspiring against her.

At the center of the town's matchmaking is Ethan's grandmother, who's convinced their relationship is a done deal. Rather than break her heart, Gabby and Ethan find themselves cornered into pretending to be falling in love. The problem: there's serious sizzling attraction between them. And if this charade continues, they won't fool just the entire town - they might fool themselves too . . .

From Publishers Weekly

Jul 18, 2016 – The first book in Lacey’s Risking It All contemporary series follows Gabby Winters, who’s renting a summer cottage in the small mountain town of Haven, N.C., to recuperate after leaving an abusive relationship. The video game software developer has no plans to make friends or date, but finds it hard to resist Olympic gold medal swimmer Ethan Hunter’s pleas to go out with him in order to make his grandmother’s final days happy. Like Gabby, Ethan wants to avoid a real relationship because he’s busy building Off-the-Grid, an adventure park, with two close friends, plus he’s carrying some baggage from his own difficult childhood. There’s never any doubt that Gabby and Ethan will get together as their chemistry jumps off the page, and the barriers they have to overcome are fairly minor. Lacey (Only You) doesn’t break new ground, but nevertheless delivers a heartwarming read that fans will love.

Loving this new series!

I am really enjoying this new series by Rachel Lacey! I read the prequel novella ROCK WITH YOU, so it was fun to see a hint of Carly & Sam again in this book. Lots of flirty romance, quirky laughs and sexy men floating around! Can't wait for the future stories!

Gabrielle Winters is visiting Haven, North Carolina for some down time away from real life. She happens upon local Ethan Hunter by accident and proceeds to humiliate herself by stumbling into a bees nest and requiring him to take her for medical attention ... talk about embarrassing!

Ethan is a fun loving ladies man who isn't planning to ever settle down. He's going into business with a couple of his buddies and enjoying life close to his Gram, Dixie. When she catches wind he was seen with a beautiful woman, she's convinced he's got a new girlfriend. Extenuating circumstances leads Than to get Gabby to agree to play along with that thinking for awhile. Will it be more truth than fiction when all is said and done?

A wonderful story that is full of lightness and heart, sure to please romance readers who want a fun

Who doesn’t love a meddling grandmother, smack in the middle of a small town romance? I knew I couldn’t resist, and I’m glad I read this one. Hiding from life, notice and her abusive ex, Gabby has taken refuge in this smcoall town of Haven to regroup and recover some of her old self. Ethan has lived in Haven with his grandmother Dixie since he was 12, when his father killed his mother. Dixie – well, she’s just a pistol – into everything and desperate to see her grandson settled and happy, she’s not taking her new diagnosis or requests to settle very well.

But when Gabby is attacked by hornets, only to be rescued by ‘the hottest guy ever’ the potential here seems to spark off the pages. See – Gabby realy isn’t all that sure about a relationship, and Ethan is busy fighting City Hall (literally) to get his Sport Adventure business off the ground – he’s not got the time for a ‘relationship’, but Dixie won’t stop pushing.

So, together they explore a ‘relationship’ even if it’s mostly for show. And while the establishment of the relationship isn’t anything new, the characters make this one sparkle. Gabby is far from the shrinking violet, even with a rather careless and clueless family or abusive ex. She’s not willing to take anyone’s guff lying down, and her loyalty to those who she befriends is solid and shows her determination. Ethan’s careful management of his grandmother, the worry and care he shows even with her driving him to distraction shows a side that isn’t evident to all. With Dixie wanting to be ‘in the know’ with her curious mix of grandmotherly care, matchmaking and general busybody, she’s just a star.

A wonderful story that is full of lightness and heart, sure to please romance readers who want a fun and light story.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Chance Meeting of The One

Ethan is a ladies man. He’s supposedly a player, but he came off as sensitive, caring and compassionate right away to me. He’s a former Olympian who won a few medals in swimming. Since this is an Olympic year, and I’m all fired up about Olympic swimming, this added some attraction to Ethan for me.
Gabby does coding for video games and is in Haven taking a break from the city. She stumbled onto Ethan’s extreme obstacle course property, which immediately starts them having the hots for each other.
If you like stories where the relationship gets started right away (versus a slow buildup), this is something you should check out. My favorite part was probably the steamy ocean sexy time. I also liked how close Ethan was with his grandmother.
