Ransom Canyon

This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

On a dirt road marked by haunting secrets, three strangers caught at life's crossroads must decide what to sacrifice to protect their own agendas…and what they're each willing to risk for love.

If there's any place that can convince Angela Harold to stop running, it's Ransom Canyon. And if there's any man who can reveal desires more deeply hidden than her every fear, it's Wilkes Wagner. Beneath the rancher's honorable exterior is something that just might keep her safe…or unwittingly put her in danger's path.

With his dreams of leaving this small Texas town swallowed up by hard, dusty reality, all Wilkes has to show for his life is the Devil's Fork Ranch. Though not one to let false hope seduce him, he can't deny the quiet and cautious beauty who slips into his world and changes everything.

Lauren Brigman finally has freedom at her fingertips. All she needs is Lucas Reyes's attention—a look, a touch, some sign that she's more to him than a girl he rescued one dangerous night. But now it's her turn to rescue someone, and the life-altering decision may cost her more than a chance with Lucas.

Sweet at the heart with a touch of danger and suspense, a dash of mystery and some wonderfully built

The first I have read from this author, the story is split between ‘check in’ moments with characters from the first book, and the focus on Angela and her story as she moves Crossroads to curate the museum after her father’s death. Angela is a bit of a wild-card, she’s been warned by her father to keep a low profile but after a rather watchful trip from Florida, she sees no cause for concern in Texas.

Wilkes Wagner, a local rancher, has returned to Crossroads after the military and some aimless wandering. Not against women, per se, he’s not all that willing to enter into a serious relationship. But the new curator is intriguing, and the fact that someone is following her, threatening her just sets his protective gene into overdrive.

With insets of moments depicting the struggles faced by Lauren and Lucas in their quest to gain degrees, deal with their separation and the pressures of family and friends, their story brings forward interest from the first book in the series. Additionally Yancy’s search for history on an old yet fascinating wreck of a house in town add to the story.

Sweet at the heart with a touch of danger and suspense, a dash of mystery and some wonderfully built characters keep readers intrigued and engaged. Perfectly well suited to stand alone, the story also touches base with characters from the first book. A small town romance that provides a perfect escape.

I received a paperback copy of the title from the publisher via Media Muscle for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
