BEWARE THE SANDMAN-HE'LL PUT YOU TO SLEEP. . .FOREVER
He collects women. Imprisons them. Plays with them. Tortures them. He gathers souvenirs. His trophies are many.
DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE
Meagan McInnis is being psychologically tormented. The image of a pair of eyes staring back from a darkened abyss haunts her. Her dog barks incessantly, but no one's there. The phone startles her awake, but only dead air answers her plea. Until the night she stumbles upon a grisly display in her garden.
THE CALLER IS SILENT NO MORE
Homicide Detective, J.J. Thomas, is working his most horrific case to date, and he's seen some pretty gruesome things. The monster he's hunting ranks up there with Ed Gein. He wouldn't be surprised to find lampshades made out of human skin in the psycho's living room.
THEY CALL HIM THE SANDMAN
Thomas is called to a crime scene in the wee hours of the morning. He's supposed to pass off the case to focus solely on the Sandman. But soon discovers the cases are linked. Better yet, that Meagan McInnis, is the key to discovering the serial killers true identity.
With his department grossly understaffed, only he and his partner, Shadowhawk, can see to Meagan's safety. At the same time they must delve deep into her past to uncover just how she became the obsession of this sadistic killer before she becomes his next prize.
NOTE: While reading this book, please keep in mind that the original manuscript was written when DNA technology was not as advanced as it is today and people weren't glued to their cell phones like a lifeline. Thank you.
Excellent book! Couldn't put it down! Definitely recommend this to all ages!!!
I could not stop reading this. I started on the plane and already flew through 175 pages on the 1hr 55min flight! The story is so well written I didn't know who was the Sandman! The vivid imagery is so surreal that you could be a witness in the novel. Truly a work of art that should be more widely known. MacDonald should be world renowned for this work. Absolutely brilliant!
LOVED this mystery with SO MANY possible suspects! Surprised that the connection of pal Katy's surfer husband Sean finding a Sandman victim's body went nowhere. Disappointed about no further follow-up for Drew Jackson's parents' "accidental death" or the "suicide" of Brad Landis. Wished Jerome got his due desserts. Just a few loose ends. Only two tiny errors (sorry Trish Wilson):
p216 "...a couple of times..." and
p242 Godzilla (misspelled).
