Say What An Introduction to Speech Communications

This textbook is an introductory course in Speech Communications with an emphasis in competitive speaking events. This course will explore the history of forensics and study the qualities of a master orator through the use of videos, worksheets, and interactive widgets. Special attention is placed on the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication in rhetoric and oratory. Finally, students will incorporate all learned speaking qualities into three categories of competition: Interpretive Events, Original Events, and Impromptu. Through a basic study of forensics and forensic competition, students will be able to effectively expand their communication skills, overcome anxiety, and gain insight into the dedicated and scientific field of Speech.
