Another winner with great use of the theme of protection
Another great entry in this fantastic series. This book is one of the cerebral/reflective additions to the series as opposed to the suspense/action/danger versions. I find I really enjoy these books more as there is more character development and insight and there seems to be more emphasis on the,e and connections. Plus, it get's a little ridiculous having Eve, Rourke or one of her team nearly die every month!! I mean seriously, this is book 45 and it's only been three years...no one comes that close to meeting their maker that many times in such a short time period!!
The theme/connections here are all about protection, family and what we do for those we love. Aside from the victims of the blackmailer demonstrating these qualities we see it between Peabody and McNabb, Eve and Peabody, Eve and Rourke, Trina and Mavis, Eve and Mavis, Summerset and Rourke, Madine and Eve, Nadine and Mavis, Mira and Eve etc. There are great emotional and enlightening conversations between many of these characters that gives the reader more depth of understanding of their relationships.
The investigation and watching Eve's wheels turn as she gathers information and excludes people from the suspect list is just fun to read for any mystery lover...it's like vintage Agatha Christie!
My only disappointment is I don't think there was a mention of the grey button which normally shows up in every book. Though perhaps there was and I either didn't register it or am attributing it to one of the five In Death books I read this weekend in the lead up to this book's release! Guess I'll find out for sure in the soon to come re-read!!

Good book. I jumped out of order coming back to the series but I’ll be continuing from where I left off last time.
Secrets in Death
As usual the awesome duo Dallas and Roarke team up on the bad guy! I had someone else pegged but Dallas works her way through it with pizazz. Always keeps me entertained from beginning to end and I can’t put it down! Love love love it and JD/Nora!!
