Description

Melissa Marr returns to faery in a dramatic story of the precarious space between two worlds—and the people who must thrive there. The combination of ethereal fae powers, tumultuous romance, and a bloodthirsty faery queen will have longtime fans and new readers alike at the edge of their seats.

Lilywhite Abernathy is a criminal—she's half human, half fae, and since the time before she was born her very blood has been illegal. A war has been raging between humans and faeries, and the Queen of Blood and Rage, ruler of the fae courts, wants to avenge the tragic death of her heir due to the actions of reckless humans.

Lily's father has always shielded her from the truth, but when she's sent to the prestigious St. Columba's school, she's delivered straight into the arms of a fae Sleeper cell—the Black Diamonds. The Diamonds are planted in the human world as the sons and daughters of the most influential families, and tasked with destroying it from within. Against her will, Lilywhite's been chosen to join them . . . and even the romantic attention of the fae rock singer Creed Morrison isn't enough to keep Lily from wanting to run back to the familiar world she knows.

From Publishers Weekly

Jan 04, 2016 – Half human, half fae Lilywhite Abernathy is the daughter of one of the most powerful crime lords in the world, and although Lily has grown up sheltered, she is more than able to take care of herself. Having any fae blood means automatic imprisonment outside of the Hidden Lands, so her father has always taken pains to hide her heritage. After Lily's 17th birthday, she is sent to the exclusive St. Columba's school, where she finds out that she is the final member of the Black Diamonds a sleeper cell of seven, each with different magical "affinities" put in place by the Queen of Blood and Rage to rid the world of the humans who have destroyed it and slaughtered their people. Marr spends a great deal of time setting up the premise, yet the larger world, irreparably ravaged by human folly, is only lightly sketched. While fans of Marr's Wicked Lovely books will appreciate her melding of ancient faerie lore with complex contemporary characters, those expecting exciting action scenes may be disappointed, and revelations about Lily hold few surprises. Ages 13 up.

Ohmygerd!!!!!!

This book was AMAZING! It had a good mix of modern and fantasy. The characters were interesting and not stereotypical and I could clearly paint a picture of the world the lived in.
