Description

Someone wants to crash Stone Barrington’s party in Stuart Woods’s bestselling series.

Stone Barrington is in Bel-Air, overseeing the grand opening of the ultra-luxe hotel, The Arrington, built on the grounds of the mansion belonging to his late wife, Arrington Carter.

The star-studded gala will be attended by socialites, royalty, and billionaires from overseas…and according to phone conversations intercepted by the NSA, it may also have attracted the attention of international terrorists. To ensure the safety of his guests—and the city of Los Angeles—Stone may have to call in a few favors from his friends at the CIA….

From Publishers Weekly

Jul 09, 2012 – Bestseller Woods’s 50th novel, the 24th entry in his Stone Barrington series (Unnatural Acts, etc.), boasts an all-star lineup, from series fixtures such as Lt. Dino Bacchetti and lawyer Herbie Fisher to Woods’s other series leads, notably U.S. president Will Lee and Holly Barker of the CIA. The event that brings everyone together is the opening of the Arrington, the palatial Bel-Air hotel named for Stone’s late wife, Arrington Carter. The glittering assembly of guests, including Lee and the Mexican president, makes the affair a prime terrorist target. Hints of a clever plan for a horrific attack reach members of various security agencies, who scramble to prevent it. Meanwhile, Stone and his guests try to enjoy the opulent setting with their usual accompaniments of good food, good drink, and good sex. Woods expertly mixes familiar ingredients to produce an intoxicating cocktail that goes down easily.

Customer Reviews

Contrived. 3rd grade level

The plotting, like many of Mr. Woods recent books, seems like something a 3rd grader wrote, and requires the suspension of even the most basic intellect. It really wouldn't take that much more effort to write something worth reading, but Mr. Woods seems unwilling to put forth the effort, apparently opting for the easy payday. Highly disappointing.

I have read all of Mr. Woods books over the years. This one reminds me of his efforts in his prime. Very engaging....quality writing. The last three or four books prior to this one were disappointing and I was ready to retire this author from my must read list.....but he has returned with a bang. Looking forward to many more years of Stuart Woods at his best.

Woods

One of the worst books I have ever read. I had given up on Stuart Woods but gave it one last chance after reading the first review, which I now wonder if it weren't written by the author. Sad because the books used to be very good.
