Description

From the USA Today bestselling author of True, Sweet, and Believe comes a tantalizing New Adult novel about finding love in the most unexpected ways…

Kylie Warner prides herself on being optimistic, but after finding her best friend in bed with her boyfriend and flunking chemistry, her upbeat attitude has taken a dive. Even an impromptu hook-up with her sexy new chemistry tutor only brightens her mood slightly. After all, it’s not like she’ll ever see the tattooed scholar again…

While he’s a whiz at complex equations, Jonathon Kadisch has trouble when it comes to figuring out women. So when Kylie tells him that she’s pregnant after their night of passion, he’s at a complete loss. He’s prepared to be a good father—unlike his own deadbeat dad—but he’s less prepared to fall for the genuine and alluring blonde bearing his child.

With emotions running high, Kylie wonders if Jonathon’s devotion is out of growing love or looming obligation. And when heartbreak threatens to tear them apart, Jonathon will have to fight for the only girl who’s ever made him feel whole…

Publishers Weekly Review

Jul 28, 2014 – An unexpected pregnancy sparks a relationship in McCarthy’s fourth True Believers novel (after Believe), but the resultant trappings of melodrama fail to bring the story to life. College student Kylie Warner, heartbroken over her boyfriend’s infidelity with her best friend, has a one-night stand with her chemistry tutor, Jonathon “Darwin” Kadisch. During her subsequent pregnancy, they bond over her ex’s attempts to get her back, hyperemesis, and the work and worry of juggling school and baby-planning for both of them. Kylie and Darwin are both such practical, committed, stable people that even the best efforts of a genre-standard, one-dimensional villain can’t pull them apart long enough to generate real conflict. The characters are well depicted, but the clichéd obstacles in their way make the story forgettable and shapeless.

Another winner from Erin McCarthy!!!!!!

OMG, I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved this book!!!! Shatter by Erin McCarthy is the fourth book in the True Believers series and for me the most highly anticipated book of the series. We've known Kylie since the first book of the series, True, and she's the classic blonde, bubbly, always positive lovable friend. In Shatter, Kylie has hit rock bottom after learning the man that she loves cheated on her with one of her friends. After breaking it off with Nathan, she's trying to get her feet back under herself and get her grades back up so she doesn't fail the semester. She meets her new chemistry tutor and instead of a geeky nerd like she was expecting, she meets a gorgeous nerd, Jonathan. The night they meet, they end up back at Kylie's for a night of passion that results in an accidental pregnancy. Kylie has to work through her trust issues and self doubt in hopes of a happy future with Jonathan and their unborn child. This book was really emotional, Kylie has a lot of stuff to work through, regaining trust in a relationship after being cheated on, self doubt since she doesn't think she is good enough / smart enough to be with Jonathan and guilt since she feels like she's trapped Jonathan with her since she's pregnant with his kid. Jonathan is such a good man, he's considerate and puts Kylie and her needs before his own. They were such a contrasting couple which made them perfect for each other lol. I am really happy that Kylie finally got her HEA, I never liked Nathan because we knew how much of an inconsiderate jerk he was and how poorly he treated Kylie in the first three books, and I was really happy that Kylie found someone worthy of her. I recommend you read the books in order or it would be a bit difficult to follow the storyline since most of the groundwork was laid down in the first three books. The reading order is True, Sweet, Believe and then Shatter, you definitely won't be disappointed in reading this series or any other book by Erin McCarthy!
