Razstava obeležuje predsedovanje Slovenije Evropski uniji in 90-letnico Narodne galerije ter omogoča javnosti, da se po kar nekaj desetletjih spet neposredno sreča s široko priljubljenimi in cenjenimi originali štirih mojstrov impresionistov - Jakopiča, Jame, Groharja in Sternena - ter hkrati spozna ali pa ponovno vzljubi številne znane slikarske sopotnike impresionizma, kot so Anton Ažbe, Ivana Kobilca, Ferdo Vesel, Ivan Vavpotič in mnogi drugi. Obenem želi opozoriti tudi na tedanje kiparske, fotografske in arhitekturne dosežke v času, ko je popotresna Ljubljana dobila najbolj cvetočo secesijsko podobo, po mestu pa je zraslo nekaj pomembnih spomenikov.

V pričujočem vodniku je predstavljenih preko 50 najbolj zanimivih umetnin. Na voljo je tudi obsežen razstavni katalog.
