Book 3, Southern Comfort

There’s nothing like a hot kiss on a cold day…
Librarian Maureen O’Connell might have predicted she’d find herself crying into the ice cream case at the supermarket after a bad breakup—but she definitely never imagined that a guy hot enough to melt the Rocky Road would flirt with her right there in the freezer aisle. Only Gavin Fraser isn’t a fantasy, he’s a mouth-watering new flavor…
When a freak snowstorm strands Maureen at Gavin’s after just one date, it’s a perfect excuse for something a lot steamier than hot chocolate in front of the fire. It’s definitely lust. Can it also be love?
this will certainly make you want the other titles in the Southern Comfort series, I know I do.
The first I have read by this author, Sarah Title has created a fast-paced, steam till your ice cream melts read that is loaded with personality, humor and heart.
Recovering from a bad breakup, Maureen heads to the ice cream aisle at the grocers, only to find herself in emotional overload at the Rocky Road display. Far from completely ill at ease, Gavin finds her attractive and sets out to flirt with her – and they share a steamy kiss. And Maureen panics and flees out of the store before he has a chance to ask her out.
But, this is a small town and Gavin’s neighbor Pippa is full of spunk and mischief, and not short on humor. Again the ice cream aisle becomes a haven for Maureen who finds herself glum and again searching for solace. This time it is Pippa who drops some sage, if slightly risqué advice on how to get the old boyfriend out of her system. Leaving, Maureen runs into Gavin in the parking lot, and he takes that opportunity to ask her out.
Plans are made, and the date is a great success: these two are well-matched and their connection is clear. Title has provided us with background enough to enjoy their quirks and understand their hopes, and when the snowstorm they had forgotten about strands Maureen at Gavin’s.
Hot and steamy, their connection sparked and sparkled from the start. The story is a perfect lead in to a relationship that is starting down the path to a happy ending. Title’s story craft is marvelous, combining backstory, action and character development together neatly to present a novella that feels more complete. Although a quick and short read, this will certainly make you want the other titles in the Southern Comfort series, I know I do.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
