Olive's to-do list: Pay the rent, feed the cat, save Faythander. Again.
When the fairy realm faces a new, terrifying threat from a goblin Spellweaver, Olive Kennedy leaves her home in Houston to travel through the most dangerous places in Faythander in order to confront him. While there, she learns that history is a muddled subject, especially when elves are involved. Her only comfort comes from Kull, her Viking warrior sidekick—who somehow negates her bad fortune. Yet how long can their relationship last when his past is brought to light? Olive will be tested beyond anything she has endured so far as the secrets of Faythander's sordid and bloody past are exposed—one that could irrevocably alter the future and destroy the lives of everyone she loves.
Perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Spellweaver is the riveting sequel to the award-nominated Dreamthief. Amazon reviewers are raving.
"Spellweaver is every bit as gripping and enigmatic as its predecessor." -Leah Alvord, Amazon Reviewer.
"Tamara Grantham's Midas touch has worked its charm again." -Courtney, The Moral of Our Stories.
If you love fantasy, don't miss this irresistible read.
I want to know what's in book 3!
***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.***
In Spellweaver, Olive is back with Kull and they are facing impending doom if they don't save the Everblossom and protect it from the evil goblin Geth. In her quest to find the Everblossom, Olive ends up finding out more about the history between the goblins and the elves. Theirs is a muddled history, not at all like the history that has been propagandized to those who live in Faythander. I found myself slightly sympathizing with the goblins for this reason.
This quest of Olive's had me trying to guess all through the book who was a traitor and who was secretly helping the goblins. And while I rejoiced in knowing who it was, the events that rapidly happened afterward had me on the edge of my seat because I didn't expect that casualty to occur. Much less did I expect what happened to Olive and Kull because of it. I am glad that Olive seems to get closer to her biological father, and she learns more of her parents' history.
The only reason this isn't getting 5 Platypires is because while it was an exciting adventure, I didn't feel it match up to the excitement and thrill of Dreamthief.
Unpredictable, unique, and wonderful!
I enjoyed Spellweaver even more than Dreamthief! Seeing Olive make greater strides in her magic and personal life was delightful. Kull continued to make me laugh with his wit and confidence. Grantham does an excellent job of writing an unpredictable and unique story. I especially reveled in the added romance between Kull and Olive throughout their adventures.
