Book 6, Worth the Fight - Worth the Fight Series

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Opposites attract in this seductive novel from the author of Against the Cage (“Funny, steamy, scorching.”—Toni Aleo), with a chiseled MMA fighter falling for a single mom who could use a real man in her corner.
Working two jobs to support her infant daughter is harder than anything Penny Richards has ever done, but it sure beats living under the rules of her stepfather, a television preacher who demands a picture-perfect family. And if Penny hadn’t struck out on her own, she never would have met Travis Calhoun. The intensely physical heavyweight brawler has a way of drawing out her wild side. But Travis lives fast, with no responsibilities—and that just isn’t for Penny.
Most of the women in Travis’s circle wear tight clothes, high heels, and tons of makeup—not pearls or plaid headbands. But once he works past Penny’s inhibitions, Travis discovers a kindred spirit who longs to trust someone with her body, and her secrets. Still, Travis can’t help but wonder if this rich girl is just slumming it before she returns to her privileged life. Now it’s up to Penny to prove that she wants her hard-edged, hard-loving fighter just the way he is.

This book is part of a series but can definitely be read as a standalone. This is my first book by this author and I am definitely a fan now!

Penny is a single mom who grew up in a strict, religious household. She's doing everything she can to make a good life for her and her daughter. On her first day at a new job, she meets Travis. Fast forward a year later, Penny and Travis are friends. Penny was an amazing character. She sacrifices and shows an enormous amount of strength.

Travis is a Southern MMA fighter. He says on more than one occasion that he's a single guy looking for a good time. He was sweet and loyal. Travis' aversion to children wasn't really explained and didn't really make all that much sense.

I loved that there was a slow progression of the relationship between Travis and Penny. This book definitely kept me on the edge of my seat when Penny's history came out. I couldn't put it down until I knew how this was going to end.

Single mom meets a cowboy MMA fighter

In this Single mom meets a cowboy MMA fighter, Stacked Up kind of gives off the feeling of a new and very adult twist to the FOOTLOOSE-ish plot.

Penny was working two jobs to support her young daughter. Penny ran away from her rich, disapproving family to keep her daughter and her daughter means everything to Penny.

Travis is a carefree cowboy with an MMA career about to explode in the national media spotlight. He takes a serious liking to Penny. He actively pursues her and convinces her to live a little…not knowing what responsibilities she is carrying.

There is a ready to order family just waiting for our couple to comes to terms with their hang ups. Penny is the opposite of Travis’ mother. Penny is in hiding from her over bearing family that wants to control her life. Then there is the adorable daughter that ties them all together.

I could have done without the Evangelical stereo-typing. Every time that came up I inwardly cringed, fortunately the overall vibe of the story prevailed.

The vibe of this story was its utter cute appeal. The flat out sweet and tenderness just had me smiling while reading. I attribute this to how the author has these characters open up and share their pasts. The openness of the characters eliminates that pesky second guessing and that bothersome “I’d just wish they’d talk to each other”, because they really do share.

I received this ARC copy of Stacked Up from Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept in exchanged for a honest review.

A good story to end a series.

This is the last in the series but the first that I have read. I could not stop reading this book. Penny had lived a very sheltered life. One night, her life changes and she decides that she needs to go it alone. Taking her baby with her, she finds her way to a small town. Into her life comes Travis, a man afraid of personal attachments because of his past. They are attracted to each other and try to make things work. The ending to this story had me in tears. I highly recommend this book.
