On Earth, Federation President Nanietta Bacco gathers allies and adversaries to form a desperate last line of defense against an impending Borg invasion. In deep space, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Captain Ezri Dax join together to cut off the Collective's route to the Alpha Quadrant.
Half a galaxy away, Captain William Riker and the crew of the Starship Titan have made contact with the reclusive Caeliar -- survivors of a stellar cataclysm that, two hundred years ago, drove fissures through the structure of space and time, creating a loop of inevitability and consigning another captain and crew to a purgatory from which they could never escape.
Now the supremely advanced Caeliar will brook no further intrusion upon their isolation, or against the sanctity of their Great Work....For the small, finite lives of mere mortals carry little weight in the calculations of gods.
But even gods may come to understand that they underestimate humans at their peril.
This is one of the best books I've ever read! In fact, the whole series rocks! Money well spent, and this is coming from a 12 year old with a $2 allowance.
Very hard book to put down, great story it should be a movie!! Book one was just as good, onto book 3! Cant wait... I highly recommend this trilogy series of books!!
NO WAY ANYONE COULD TOP THE T.N.G. DESTINY SERIES!!
The Destiny series (books 1,2, and 3) is the most exciting story ever written for Star Trek. I will not give away any spoilers. If you are looking for something with a good plot, action, and just enough techno-babel to intrigue your mind without overwhelming you, then, you MUST READ the Destiny trilogy. At first I was confused as to how 4 different story lines would connect four Starship captains in the quest to take out the Borg threat once and for all. David Mack made it all come together with a stroke of genius. It appears that Captains Picard, Riker, Dax, and Hernandez are all experiencing senarios that have nothing to do with each other and then, BOOM! David Mack starts to throw you some clues as to how they are all tied together in the same quest. Best of all, there are no boring down time areas in any of these books to make you lose interest. On the contrary. All three books are highly action-packed. In the second book: MERE MORTALS, you will be introduced to the cunning of the Hirogen Hunters. This senario alone has all the intensity of the first Die Hard movie. Enjoy it!
