Opposites attract on an accidental road trip in book one of #gaymers, a geektastic new series from multipublished male/male romance author Annabeth Albert
Adrian Gottlieb is winning at life. He's a successful video game designer with everything a man could ask for, including a warm comfy ride to Denver and a date for his sister's wedding. But he finds himself in need of a total reboot when he's left stranded at a snowy campground in Utah. Holiday plans? Epic fail.
That is until Noah Walters offers him shelter for the night and a reluctant cross-country ride. Nothing about the ultraconservative geoarchaeologist should attract Adrian, but once he discovers Noah's hidden love for video games, the two connect on a new level. Soon, a quiet but undeniable chemistry sparks.
Something doesn't add up, though. As the miles accumulate and time runs out, Noah must face the most difficult choice of his life. Meanwhile, Adrian must decide whether he's ready to level up. Is their relationship status worth fighting for, or has this game ended before it's even begun?
Book 1 of the #gaymers series
Thirty-five-year-old professor Noah Walters first meets 25-year-old video game designer Adrian Gottleib in the dog area of the Utah RV park where he's vacationing. At their next run-in, Noah offers Adrian a place to stay after Adrian's travel companion abandons him. Adrian's openness about being gay encourages Noah to explore and embrace his own sexuality. But Noah is reluctant, as this could drastically alter his career and life in the small Northwest Texas community he calls home. With well-paced character development, Albert (Treble Maker) captures Adrian's cocky confidence as the initiator of Noah's journey and the transformation in the curmudgeonly Noah as he embarks on his sexual awakening. The paradox of emotions joy, fear, and anticipation of disappointment is effectively conveyed in the men's struggles with their growing attraction to each other and also during their emotional and sensual sex scenes. Though the narrative does sound a bit preachy at times, with stereotypical references to right-wingers and the simplistic contrast between the attitudes of the characters in Utah and Denver, this sweet romance offers a tasteful blend of the emotional, evocative, and erotic.

The ride of their lives
Adrian and Noah meet at an RV park when Noah witnesses Adrian get left behind by not only his date, but his ride to his sisters wedding. They hit it off right away, having a lot in common that is not obvious. Their love for their dogs for example.
Noah is stunned by the immediate attraction he has toward Adrian. When he is left penniless in the park, hoping his date will come back - Noah reaches out and offers to drive him home to his sisters wedding.
Adrian normally has everything going for him. A natural charmer, pet lover, and video gamer, he is affectionate and easy to talk to. Noah, being quiet, with life goals and guilt is more of an introvert who is afraid to try something new. Together, they make quite the pair.
The ride is not always smooth, but Adrian brings Noah out of his shell. The story us rather old fashioned and sweet. I found myself rooting for them right away. By the end of the book, I was hoping they would make a movie out of it so we could see these fun moments from the book!
