Stolen Encounters with the Duchess
I haven't read a book from Julia that I didn't like. Right from the start she tore me apart. Julia's people are so real. Her story lines are always spot on. Davie Smith is in Parliament even being an orphan. Spoiler. He still has a thing for a girl from long ago. He leaves from a meeting and finds a female being attacked. He saves her and finds his lost love. Faith is a widow and a Duchess. She has 3 boys. Major Spoiler! He knows he can't have her. He knows she is lost. The Dowager was always putting her down. Her brother-in-law pestered her. Big Spoiler. The Parliament turns down the vote and incites the country folk into riots. This story tore me apart. He wants her. She wants him. They know they can't have each other. This is a quick read yet there are plenty of places where you need tissues and walk away. I recommend this book to everyone. You will fall for the books from Julia. Don't pass this up. You will regret it. Enjoy this reading!
Great read and continuation of a series.
This is the second in the series. I really enjoyed the first and looked forward to this one. I was not disappointed. Faith spent her adult life married to an uncaring, philandering man. Upon his death, she thought her life would be easier. In a moment of danger, Davie came to her rescue, and they rekindled their childhood friendship. Feelings become stronger as they make their way through expectations of class, politics, and self image. Davie is a knight in shining armor as he helps Faith and her three sons break free of their home constraints. I loved Faith's joy as she regained her old spirit. I highly recommend this book.
