Stowaway: Curse of the Red Pearl
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Set on stormy seas during the early nineteenth century, Stowaway: Cruse of the Red Pearl features a unique plot revolving around a classic adventure that quickly becomes supernatural horror.
In the story, Kit Cabot is being groomed to take over his family’s shipping fortune in 1808 Boston, Massachusetts. While Kit yearns for the approval of his father, he finds the day-to-day operations of the family business incredibly boring.
Determined to do something more with his life, and attracted to the seafaring life of his uncle, Kit decides to stowaway on his uncle’s ship. But instead of being swept up in the life of adventure and romance he always imagined, Kit finds himself subjected to harsh 1800’s maritime conditions and another stowaway with a sinister mission of its own.
Stowaway: Curse of the Red Pearl combines high sea adventure with dark horror, and paints a world filled with both mundane and otherworldly dangers. It builds a claustrophobic sense of supernatural terror as Kit and his friends are forced to deal with the dangers of nature and an unknown horror possessing the ship.
Oh I loved this book. It is an amazing adventure, an intriguing tale with mystery that held me spellbound. The raw life of a sailor, the dream of Kit to be like his uncle and the very scary mysterious red pearl, that takes control of the captain. The evil that dwells within made my heart race The details are intense and made it a compelling read and I hated to see it end. The characters are amazing and so strong, making the story a delightful read. It is written in a great format and the chapters easy to read, it was impossible to put down and I was left wanting more. Tracy Fobes is a brilliant author and she has certainly grabbed my attention. I love her mind and imagination and I will be looking for more of her work. I recommend this book highly to everyone who enjoys a mysterious adventurous book. It is one of the best I have read.
Dark adventure on the high seas
Historical fiction is, hands down, my favorite genre as I love being taught history on the sly as I'm entertained with an interesting tale. Paranormal and fantasy run a close second, so when the two are combined, the book is already nearly a sure winner for me. This was definitely the case with author Tracy Forbes' "Stowaway: Curse of the Red Pearl". An incredibly well-written adventure, beginning in early 19th century Boston and launching onto the high seas as precocious Kit Cabot stows away on his uncle's ship and gets much more excitement than he bargained for. This was a dark and amazingly fun adventure that I was sad to see come to an end. Very well done.
