A museum in a nutshell, a history in a few words, this enhanced ebook takes readers into the surprising, secret world of America's first sexual revolution. See art from rare-books archives that will forever change your sense of "Puritanical" New England. Learn how the founding fathers--and mothers--rewrote society’s rules, even in their bedrooms. Join a conversation with historians and sexologists. An exhibit, a story, a salon--you've never seen anything like it. Note: While in a scholarly context, the images are explicit enough to be for mature audiences only. A non-fiction companion to the novel The Glass Harmonica, A sensualist’s tale.
Rich, interactive, and historical
I love this book as a both a visual stunner and historical resource. Each image is documented and described, some with links to more current information on the topic. I was struck by the details on women's sexual lives in American society, and by the rich images that illustrate the point. Thanks to Dorothee Kocks for her creative and accessible treatment. What a bargain, too!
