Description

McCammon’s epic bestselling novel about a girl psychic struggling to survive in the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust Something flashes in nine-year-old Swan’s brain, telling her that trouble is coming. Maybe it’s her mother, fed up with her current boyfriend and ready to abandon their dismal trailer park and seek a new home. But something far worse is on the horizon. Death falls from the sky—nuclear bombs which annihilate American civilization. Though Swan survives the blast, this young psychic’s war is just beginning. As the survivors try to make new lives in the wasteland, an evil army forms, intent on murdering all those tainted with the diseases brought by fallout. When Swan finds a mysterious amulet that could hold the key to humankind’s salvation, she draws the attention of a man more dangerous than any nuclear bomb. To rescue mankind, this little girl will have to grow up fast.“A wild ride into terror. A grand and disturbing adventure.” —Dean Koontz “Compelling . . . . A long, satisfying look at hell and salvation.” —Publishers Weekly “A chilling vision that keeps you turning pages to the shocking end.” —John Saul, author of The Blackstone ChroniclesOne of the founders of the Horror Writers Association, Robert R. Raised by his grandparents in Birmingham, Alabama, McCammon published his first novel, the Revelations-inspired Baal, when he was only twenty-six. After his next novel, Gone South, McCammon took a break from writing to spend more time with his family. He did not publish another novel until 2002’s Speaks the Nightbird. Amazing

This is, by far, one of the most amazing books I have ever read. I began reading King and Straub several years ago and happened upon this book by Robert McCammon. I thought I'd give it a try thinking it would never compare to King. I was so wrong!!! I have read this book three times over the years and purchased it on my iPad so I can read it once again. To me, it is comparable to The Talisman by King and Straub. Just as well written and it kept me enthralled through out the entire book from start to finish. I would recommend this book to anyone!!! Great writing!

Swan Song

I read this book for the first time several years back, sometime before my highschool years, it's hard to say when, as i've read so many books and have found so many amazing ones to lose myself in. I always loved reading. In my library back home in my house , where i spent many a day in the sun surrounded by plants, wooden walls and the scent of well used books on their shelves, I stumbled upon this book, disheveled and dog-eared. The grinning face of an evil man surrounded in flames with a chasm stretching out to the sun way beyon and behind it, and the words, Swan Song, I was intrigued already. I asked my mother about it and she wasn't quite sure I was ready for it, as she was only ready for it as an adult. Despite her doubts I undertook what I thought would be a task, as it was 800 plus pages and i was still young. I was almost instantly sucked deep into the story, the ink of the print swirling around me to create a landscape I will never forget. I read the book in eight hours, which was incredible to say the least, and when i'd finished, i hungrily devoured it again over a longer time in shorter turns. This book will always have a place in my heart, as a great adventure far from the average post apocalyptic text. It is a long and great journey that you will never forget. It gets difficult to read sometimes, but push through, it is worth it. It pulls no punches.
