The New York Times bestselling author of the Driven series turns up the heat when a sexy bet turns into so much more....
Hawkin Play, the bad boy rock star with a good guy heart, has lived a lifetime of cleaning up after his twin brother’s mistakes. Hunter’s most recent screwup could land Hawke in jail and risk the band’s future. Hawke agrees to guest lecture at a local college to stay in the judge’s good graces—and a bet with his bandmate to seduce his sexy teaching assistant is icing on the cake.
Quinlan Westin is harder to bed than Hawke imagined. She knows his type and is determined to avoid the rocker at all costs—even if their attraction runs deeper than simple lust.
Just as Hawke might finally be winning over the girl, his brother has other plans. When Hunter realizes his twin finally has a weakness, he’ll stop at nothing to take advantage....
Racer still trumps rockstar for the Driven Series. Sorry Hawkin.
It's a story filled with lust and sexual innuendoes. Ms. Bromberg is crafty with her witty dialogue.
Kim writes the most intense male characters. It's an emotional journey for Hawkin. I guess Ms. Bromberg likes to write about damaged men. Men who are successful despite the internal battle that wages inside of them. Men who cannot settle down with one woman because they think they are a failure at love.
It's so hard not to compare Hawkin to Colton because his character was intense with such depth. I was emotionally invested in Colton's story because he had so many layers to his internal turmoil.
The story has moments of greatness and I get sucked in but the layers of secrets have me backing away and my mind starts to drift.
I think the story was at its best is when Hawkin was dealing with his internal turmoils of dealing with his brother, his mother, and his father. I was drawn to Hawkins pain. I never felt the connection with Quinlan and Hawkin. The only element I felt was a sexual chemistry. However, I felt a connection with Hawkin and his story tugged at my heart strings. His story was compelling. Once again Ms. Bromberg delivered an intense male character changed by a great woman. I thought the scenes about Hawkin were better than sex scenes. The sex scenes were a bit graphic and expected of a rock star. Where I enjoyed the scenes the most is when Hawkin had his breakdown moments and opened himself up to Quinlan. It took awhile to get a rhythm set for the story. But once I got to the tender scenes with Hawkin I really started to enjoy the story and its many layers.
Wow just wow!
Bromberg has set the high bar high yet again! Another great story that had me laughing, crying & panting...I loved the duel POVs, bringing in Rockers from other authors and of course snippets with Colton & Rylee. I didn't want the story to end. Standing ovation! Can't wait for Hard Beat. Thanks for writing standalone books that give those of us who have been reading all of your books little reminders of the past and books that are worth every penny and every minute that I ignore my real life responsibilities to enjoy your words'
Sweet Ache was one of my most highly anticipated books of 2015. I have purposefully stayed away from teasers and excerpts because I wanted the full experience when I got to read it in full. I went in only knowing that it was about Quin, Coltan's sister, and a rockstar named Hawkin. What I did not expect was the emotions that would get pulled out of me, wait no, that's a lie. It's a Bromberg book, I knew deep down the emotions she'd pull out of me I just wasn't sure which ones. I felt happy, scared, confused, worried, hot, and many other things under the sun.
Throughout the entire series I was biting my nails anticipating what would happen next. Wanting to read ahead, but stopping myself because I didn't want to ruin it. I found myself wanting to read as fast as possible to get to the end, but slowing down because I never wanted it to end.
Kristy, please don't ever stop writing. You are on my "one-click no matter what" list and will always stay that way. Everything you write is beautifully erotic and I love it!
Bravo! 6 starts for Sweet Ache!
