Some men need to learn the hard way...
Doctor O-for-Awesome Owen Bennett is all about fixing broken things and being responsible. His motto? Rules are helpful boundaries. Rules can be fun. But when he’s temporarily put in charge of three precocious kids, chaos reigns and his list of household rules gets tossed out the window. Except one. Under no circumstance will he get involved with the kids’ tempting new nanny.
After four years flitting around Europe, waitress/dog-walker/au-pair Gracie Cooper returns home to Bounty Bay for her brother’s wedding. Working to pay off some of her crippling university debt while she’s there makes it a win-win situation. She plans to play in the sand and surf with three cute kids, indulge in a harmless flirtation with her sexy-stick-in-the-mud boss, then follow the sun overseas again come end of summer. Oh—and if she and Owen accidentally take their attraction farther than they should? Well, some rules are made to be broken…

An OOOOOO and AHHHHH You would love!!!!
Want to read a sweet feel good romance with no overdone angst or coming under fire save for the belief in pure simple love?
"Teach your Heart" is the third in this I love being in love Far North series, where we meet Gracie who adds such a beautiful free spirit to this book that, like all the characters we fall in live with her happy and loving heart. She does not judge and accepts you to be ... You! Her childhood and young adult year was anything but happy as she struggled with issues and loss of her mother, the glue of the family while her father was everything against her sweet nature. Gracie was also flawed so don't think blue birds and lollipops she became an 'avoider', a non-confrontationalist... yeah it's not a word but it was Gracie.
In steps Owen, our hunky doctor who has his own deep seated issues and dealing with a recent loss of his sister as well as an embarrassment of his upbringing and parents hippie lifestyle. He is giving temporary custody to his sister's 3 kids who turn this book upside down especially little Miss Charlie-not Charlotte, and we see how much family love and the love of a good soul can turn a boring stick in the bum guy around.
As always Ms Alvarez... Tracey, brings such life to her characters with quirky scenes and words that you spend a good deal smiling throughout and don't think it's not a gamut of emotions as you also spend some time mopping up your cheeks as you go through some of those moments of heartache and even a few happy tears. I love Ms Alvarez's ability to wrap so much up in these beautiful scenic and full journeys yet leave you light and ready to give the day a dust off and see the rainbows. You meet some really lovely people and know that with the next book you can catch up with them again, or so easily re-read these books as they lend such warmth you sometimes need a top up.
For me Tracey, I do hope we see dear Isaac have his HEA next as he struck me and stayed with me throughout this book, I am such a sucker for a wounded soul so deserving of peace and love. Fingers and toes crossed!?!
I had read (and fallen in love with) Tracey Alvarez's Due South series, so to realize that I had not read her Far North series and there were more books for me to enjoy was awesome! And as a stand-alone book you’re not forced to read the other books, but you definitely will want to read them!
Gracie seems like a lost soul who is just trying to find herself as she travels around the world doing odd jobs. While she's home for a little while she runs into Owen's three orphaned nieces/nephew. Owen, a doctor who is most definitely married to his job, has been having some difficulty finding a babysitter for the kids that will actually last more than a minute so when Gracie seems to click with the kids he offers her a job as a live-in nanny. Gracie takes the job thinking it can help her pay off her student loans and then she'll be out of there (and New Zealand altogether) and Owen thinks he can go back to working 24/7 until his mom was recovered enough to take the kids back.
Will their plans work out the way they thought they would? Will either one of these lost individuals figure out what they're running from, either literally running - as in jumping from country to country and job to job, or running by working non-stop, signing up for shifts when it's not required, and avoiding all type of long-term relationship?
This story could have gone the way of the predictable, overdone but instead Tracey Alvarez is able to make it interesting and exciting. As usual I could not put the book down but then was so upset to see that I ran out of pages and the story was over! Each one of her books makes me want to head over to New Zealand and find my own story there!
Another Must Read!
Tracey Alvarez has done it again. Teach Your Heart, the third Far North book, is another masterful story-telling adventure. We see old friends (although you don’t have to have read the first to books to enjoy this one) and find new ones. Owen and Gracie are regular people with faults and problems, like the rest of us. It’s always fun to see how Tracey weaves through the realistic challenges and brings her characters to their well-deserved HEA. I think New Zealand tourism should be paying Tracey. She’s definitely the reason that New Zealand is now on my bucket list of places to see. I continue to be amazed at the depth of the dialogue that are part of every book of Tracey’s that I’ve read, and I’ve read them all! Owen is over his head, when he takes on the care of his three nieces and nephew. But they are destined to be together just as much as Gracie is Owen’s perfect compliment. The back story of Owen’s unconventional upbringing was a fun surprise element to this book. Sit down, put your feet up and enjoy playing with this little family-to-be. You couldn’t spend a better afternoon than getting lost in any of the Far North or Due South books!
