The Architecture of Music Volume 1
Book 1, The Architecture of Music - Enhanced Chord and Scale Encyclopedia for the Guitar in Regular E Tuning
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
The Architecture of Music Volume 1 is a comprehensive Chord and Scale Encyclopedia that uses basic music theory to simplify the way chords and scales are thought of, learned, and used. It is an oddity guitar chord and scale encyclopedia that contains 10 root position and 10 negative chords, all the possible 4th-tone (add) variations of them, and all the possible ways to play them. In all, there are 180 chords to be explored. It contains five scales in each key and each scale contains complete lists of chords included in the book that can be played with every note, in every scale, in every key.
Negative chords are a somewhat new concept to music theory which are explained in the Chord, Scale, and Modes Lessons portion of the books' companion website: www.archofmusic.com. Essentially, negative chords are the harmonic opposites of the 10 root position chords. Commonly known as 2nd inversions in traditional music theory, a negative chord naming nomenclature has been used in this book to name the negative chords in lieu of using 2nd inversion chord names to make clear the negative chord relationship between two chords including negative (add) variations.

This book is an excellent piece of work. The graphic illustrations that accompany the chapters add depth and style to an already well researched manuscript. Highly recommended.
