The Bad Boy Cowboy
Book 4, Morgan Ranch
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
The Morgan men thought they left their troubled pasts in the dust. But one by one, they find themselves returning to the northern California ranch where the bad times began. Together, they have a chance to forge a new future based on brotherhood, hope, and love . . .
Professional rodeo cowboy “HW” Morgan has finally achieved his dream of competing in the national rodeo finals—but his career has come at a price. His twin brother wants nothing to do with him and a string of hookups haven’t warmed his bed. He’s got to get his head on straight—and the only place to do that is at home, if his family will have him.
Samantha Kelly isn’t sure what she’s doing at a new dude ranch. The army veteran is barely back on her feet again, still struggling to rehab an injury. But she’s willing to give equine therapy a try, even though her riding instructor is bold, brash, and distractingly easy on the eyes. As she and HW warily try to work each other out, slowly and surely an unbreakable trust is built—one on which dreams can be built . . .
Praise for The Reluctant Cowboy
“Pearce sets up solid main-character arcs and creates good chemistry in a realistic western. While Pearce's descriptions of the ranch will inspire dreams of visiting one, the family secrets are alluring enough to make readers eager for the next book.” —Booklist
Another great hit!
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. This is another Morgan family story with HW being the main son featured. HW has returned to the family ranch, after retiring from the rodeo, even though everyone seems to feel like he is not serious and will later leave. At the ranch he meets Sam who had left the military after being seriously injured by an IED and losing an ankle and foot. They both have baggage that seems to get in the way of a commitment. After all of the drama that happens between the two of them and the drama with HW’s past they eventually find love. There is a lot to this book and you need to find out all the workings that go on in this book. It is well written and keeps your interest. I would highly recommend this book and all the others in this Morgan family saga.
I am loving this series and this book is one of my favorite as HW Morgan is the latest son to return to the ranch and reconnect with his brothers. The characters and stories in this series and this book will grab you by the heart and keep you glued to the pages. This author's writing style makes the story flow easily and makes you feel as if you are on the ranch with all these great characters.
After years of pursing the elusive National Rodeo Championship, HW is no longer certain that's what he wants. He misses his brother and his body is achy. Maybe this is the time to hang up his spurs. If it is what comes next? Can he find a place on the ranch where he belongs? All this is swirling in his head as he makes a visit home. That's when he meets Samantha Kelly who seems to be struggling with her future as much as HW is. Is it possible the may find what they are looking for in each other?
A great read that should be on everyone's must read list! I highly recommend it.
Rodeo or Ranch...
HW Morgan, a rodeo champion, has finally earned a spot to complete in the National Finals Rodeo. His dreams are dashed when he comes in second. Not sure if he really wants to compete against all the "youngsters", HW takes some time off returning home. His brothers have been working hard to turn their Northern California ranch into a dude ranch. With hopes of opening in the next six weeks or so, each brother has a specific job, but works as a team. HW hopes they will be able to find a place for him too.
Samantha Kelly made a living as a MP until her unit was attacked. Samantha endured grueling PT in order to learn to walk again. Sam also sees a therapist to help work through her Survivor's guilt. Since being discharged, Sam relies on routine and does not like the unpredictable. When she's offered a chance to spread her wings as a guest "reviewer" at the Morgan Ranch, she jumps at the chance. What she didn't expect to find was HW...
The Morgan's had a tumultuous childhood. Their mother suffered post-partum depression. They all knew something was wrong, but didn't know how to help her. HW was always considered her "favorite", so they thought he had it easy. They never viewed it from his point of view though.
Even at 5yrs old, HW tried to keep the peace using charm. So that's how he's lived his life, charming people into doing what he wants or by saving them. When he's tasked with teaching Sam how to ride horses, he agrees so that he may finally prove his worth to his family. What he doesn't expect is the extent of his feelings for Sam....
I truly enjoyed this novel. I wanted to smack HW, then Sam up side their heads for being so stubborn in their feelings for each other. The love and support given to Sam was what I wish for in a relationship. Sam's quick wit, banter, and strength was inspiring. HW's fight to fit into his family, his patience, and ability to listen was swoon-worthy! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
