Yellow Submarine (English)
This book is available for download with iBooks on your Mac or iOS device, and with iTunes on your computer. Books can be read with iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
This enchanting illustrated book captures the same magical spirit that you find in the film. The Beatles’ journey to save Pepperland from the music-hating Blue Meanies is filled with surrealistic humor, wit, and clever references to the Beatles’ song titles and lyrics. In this iTunes exclusive, HD clips from the movie have been included throughout and can be viewed either embedded in the page or at full-screen size. The pages also feature interactive and animated elements as well as sound effects and musical clips. In addition to the English edition, this book is also available in a host of languages, including French, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Spanish (Mexico and Spain), and Portuguese (Brazil).
The Beatles Yellow Submarine
For all the Beatle fans who want to introduce The Beatles to their grand kids, this is a perfect book. The interaction is fun, the moving pictures on the pages are interesting.
The downside is there isn't enough music, only some of the film score and Sgt. pepper, still this is a great little book.
The videos added to perfect touch and the moving graphics were an excellent touch! Overall, I LOVED IT!! Go Beatles! <3
Loved the movie, loved the music, highly disappointed in the book. But what did I expect for free? I expected more than a decent audio book. The narration was very good. I expected a piece of media that leveraged all that is great about the iPad. Instead, this book is hard to navigate. Even in landscape mode you do not get a full two page spread. Moving between pages is hit or miss. When you want to slide back over to an opposite page, sometimes you go back to the previous pair. If the iPad had tactile feedback it would feel like the book was pulling against you when you try to turn the page. As you explore around the page to try and find the very limited interaction, then the page would turn. Halfway through the book I gave up. If the page turned, I just continued on. It is too hard to get the book to go backward, to often find there was nothing to interact with anyway.
Animations, there are a few. Many of the are so subtle you will miss them. Most of them are on the opposing page to the text,so you will not see them unless you scroll over. There may have been more interactions, but I gave up after making the page turn more often than finding anything cool. There are some snippets from the movie, but they are not integrated into the story very well. More like they were just dropped on top. These movies are probably why the download is so large. Should have just left them off.
It was free,so why am I bothering to put up a negative review? Because it is not really free, it is a 300mb download. I will be deleting this. It was a waste of my time to download and read. This was my first iBook. I am really disappointed. This was the Beatles. Yellow Submarine. I expected psychedelic. I expected an experience that pushed the medium like the original. Instead you get a nice audio book with poor interaction and a heap of disappointment.
