Bad boy meets bad girl – is that all there is?
Passionate, hard working and every inch a business woman, Chicago realtor Kitty Paige likes her sex raw and edgy, and sees no reason to limit herself to just one man. Never married and not quite forty, the striking blonde has successfully raised her daughter, Susan, and is already pushing her new-found freedom to the limits.
Wealthy commodities middle-man and race horse owner Jared Jacobs is father of the best man at Susan’s wedding. He is smitten by the vision in yellow who exudes sex as she escorts her daughter down the aisle. Also single, the handsome mustached California ranch owner with mischievous eyes views his sex life as a series of splendid love affairs, and sets out to make Kitty next on the list.
Together and apart, their chemistry is explosive, and their sparkling repartee and steamy sex catch both partners by surprise. Jared is first to recognize he’s fallen in love. When Kitty panics, can Jared finesse his every move and reel her in?
I didn’t always agree with the choices but I was not able to put this book down
Who wants a steamy, hot, sexy and smutty read? If you answered yes to any of those – this is the title for you. The Best Man by Adriana Kraft has a little bit of something for nearly everyone to titillate and tease.
Kitty is ‘of a certain age’, successful in business, raised her children and now is looking to broaden her horizons. I went back and forth about her frequently – appreciating her boldness but more than a touch unsure about her decision-making. From her first ‘no holds barred’ encounter, the story twists and winds us through her exploration of her own sexuality and how that plays into a relationship. Experimenting with polyamory situations, ménage, light bondage, some F/F scenes and a bit of over-the-top toy play, this story combines all that Kraft brings to their books: fantasy exploration through fiction.
Jared, the man Kitty spotted at her daughter’s wedding will become a center point in her growth and experimentation, but I found him a touch flat, there was something indefinable that I couldn’t connect to with him. Perhaps some of this comes from Kitty’s very hard-lined approach to placing sex in a box without emotion – so the emotion, when it came, felt as if it was expected and required, not there and peeking out from the start. But – that’s me – I want some emotional tie to the character- especially when, as in this book, there is a happy for now ending that looks permanent.
A read that is loaded with fuel for fantasy or experimentation, well-written with several interesting characters all coming together in varied combinations. I didn’t always agree with the choices made by these characters, but I most certainly was not able to put this book down.
I received an eBook of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
