She took a dare and fell in love. Truth would have been the smarter choice.
After years of living under her father’s thumb, Emmeline is ready to break free. She’s abandoned her life as a New York socialite to follow her dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher in a small, wholesome town. Seeing the man that nearly broke her was absolutely not what she had hoped to find in Prescott, Montana.
Nick hasn’t seen his Emmy in nine years, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten a thing about the woman he loves. After just one blissful night as man and wife, he gave her up, sacrificing his own happiness to keep her safe—far away from him. But the moment she walks back into his lonely life is the moment he decides never to let her go again. He won’t waste his second chance. All he has to do is win back Emmeline’s heart, keep her safe from the shadows in his past and prove to her that taking a wager on him is a sure bet.
Romance with a bit of danger and mystery!
After reading The Coppersmith Farmhouse I was excited to go back to Jamison Valley for another story but I waited for the audiobook release and didn’t regret that decision. The Clover Chapel is an awesome audiobook with great narration by Ava Erickson and Joe Arden.
“Let’s get married,” Nick whispered into my ear.
“What?” I gasped, turning to look up at him with wide eyes. Where had that come from?
“Let’s get married. You said you wanted crazy. Nothing is crazier than two people who just met getting hitched in Las Vegas.”
What a great blend of insta-love, Vegas wedding, second-chance, with some mystery and danger thrown in for a story that engrosses and entertains!!
Review: Jamison Valley 2: The Lucky Heart
The Clover Chapel by Devney Perry is the second book in the Jamison Valley series of interconnected standalones. This is Nick, the firefighter, and Emmeline, the kindergarten teacher's, story. A story of kismet, fate, written in the stars when after nine years apart following their one night, their wedding night, together Nick and Emmy reconnect in Jamison Valley of all places.
Told in dual POV and alternating between the past and the present in a way that effortlessly flows from the page, this was an emotional clencher, for sure!
Nick abandoned Emmy after their one wonderful night together in an effort to keep her safe from harm. He had a past that he didn't want coming after her or her daddy's money. It was a decision he has regretted ever since as she was his one.
Emmeline is tired of the emotional abuse directed at her from her father and decides to take her trust money, get the education she wants and finds a job hiring Kindergarten teachers in nowhere Montana. It has been nine years but when she realizes this is where her disappearing husband Nick lives things get complicated and fast.
The danger Nick was saving her from may still be an issue and when her home is broken into multiple times he alpha-male decides she needs to come stay with him. What better way for him to also try and win his wife back before she becomes his ex?
Another amazing story - I can't wait to read more... Enjoy!
