From USA Today bestselling author Julianne MacLean comes the next instalment in her popular Color of Heaven Series, where people are affected by real life magic and miracles that change everything they once believed about life and love.
Having spent a lifetime in competition with his older brother Aaron—who always seemed to get the girl—Jack Peterson leaves the U.S. to become a foreign correspondent in the Middle East. When a roadside bomb forces him to return home to recover from his wounds, he quickly becomes the most celebrated journalist on television, and is awarded his own prime time news program. Now, wealthy and successful beyond his wildest dreams, Jack believes he has finally found where he is meant to be. But when a commercial airliner explodes in the sky over his summer house in Cape Elizabeth, all hell breaks loose as the wreckage crashes to the ground. He has no idea that his life is about to take another astonishing turn…
Meg Andrews grew up with a fear of flying, but when it meant she wouldn’t be able to visit her boyfriend on the opposite side of the country, she confronted her fear head-on and earned her pilot’s license. Now, a decade later, she is a respected airline crash investigator, passionate about her work, to the point of obsession. When she arrives in the picturesque seaside community of Cape Elizabeth to investigate a massive airline disaster, she meets the famous and charismatic Jack Peterson, who has his own personal fascination with plane crashes.
As the investigation intensifies, Meg and Jack feel a powerful, inexplicable connection to each other. Soon, they realize that the truth behind the crash—and the mystery of their connection—can only be discovered through the strength of the human spirit, the timeless bonds of family, and the gift of second chances.

"I was so pulled into this story I thought at times I WAS the character. Julianne MacLean certainly grabbed me with this book. I absolutely loved it! ...It all felt so real. It's like Alice falling through the rabbit hole, I got to live out someone else's life if only through my own imagination." - Micky at Goodreads
"Wow! This is one of those "l couldn't put it down" books. The penny dropped right at the end of this amazing story as to why it is titled "The Color of Forever". Believe me when I say that this is a page turner like you have never read before." - Zena at Goodreads
"It makes the reader think about what could have been, and loves past, and makes you wonder if you are leading the life you're meant to be leading. Thought-provoking, emotionally-intense and riveting, Ms. MacLean delivers another 5-star romance in The Color of Forever" - Nancy at Goodreads

A Great Addition to the Series
This is the eleventh book in The Color of Heaven series. While this book is part of series, you can easily read it as a standalone. Though I highly recommend you read the series because Julianne MacLean does such a good job of creating rich characters with thought provoking storylines.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. For those of us who read the previous book, The Color of Forever, we met Jack Peterson already. The Color of a Promise gives a lot more detail into why Jack didn't get along with his brother Aaron. A plane crash, right in his parents yard brings Meg Andrews into Jack's life. Jack and Meg are drawn to each other. Will they find love with each other or will they continue to be "married" to their jobs? Will Jack ever forgive Aaron so they can have a new start at being brothers? This book is a great addition to the series.

Wonderful, heart-wrenching, soul searing
I have to admit that I ended the previous book in The Color of Heaven series firmly in "Camp Aaron." As much as I had loved Jack, I was fully in support of Aaron. But Ms. MacLean didn't leave Jack hanging, and in The Color of a Promise, Jack finds his own happily ever after - where he never expected. As in previous books in this series, the book is a wonderful story of love and happiness, infused with mysticism (in this case, past lives). The Color of a Promise is a wonderful love story of a love that transcends lives, showing that souls meant to be together find their way back together. I loved reading about Jack's childhood and more about what drove the wedge between Aaron and Jack, and what transpires in Meg's life that led her to meet Jack at just the right time in her life. The only complaint I would have is that I felt that Ms. MacLean left us hanging to imagine some things at the end of the story - I would have loved to known whether what I imagine happens between Meg and Jack is what actually happens. But all in all, another wonderful, heart-wrenching, soul-searing story in the Color of Heaven series!
