The Demon King

Book 1, A Seven Realms Novel - A Seven Realms Novel

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

Times are hard in the mountain city of Fellsmarch. Reformed thief Han Alister will do almost anything to eke out a living for himself, his mother, and his sister Mari. Ironically, the only thing of value he has is something he can't sell. For as long as Han can remember, he's worn thick silver cuffs engraved with runes. They're clearly magicked—as he grows, they grow, and he's never been able to get them off. The thrilling debut in a new high fantasy trilogy, from New York Times bestselling author, Cinda Williams Chima (The Dragon Heir).

From Publishers Weekly

Sep 28, 2009 – Princess Raisa, heir to the Queendom of the Fells, chafes against the forced royal marriage in her future. Trying to support his family with odd jobs, Han can t decide what life he wants from among the three he s juggling and past mistakes made when he was a gang leader keep surfacing to haunt him. Additionally, Han finds himself the unwitting owner of an ancient talisman taken from the land s most powerful wizards, while Raisa faces the political maneuverings of those supposedly bound to serve her family. In elegant prose, Chima (the Heir series) constructs a complex but comprehensible world, where wizards and clans coexist in an uneasy and restrictive arrangement, brokered after the destructive actions of the Demon King, 1,000 years earlier. With full-blooded, endearing heroes, a well-developed supporting cast and a detail-rich setting, Chima explores the lives of two young adults, one at the top of the world and the other at the bottom, struggling to find their place and protect those they love. An auspicious start to the planned Seven Realms trilogy. Ages 12 up.

If you like good fantasy stories you should read this

A fantastic fantasy action book that, even though it is almost 20 years old, does not seem dated at all. You will definitely become attached to the characters throughout their journeys. A series of books that more people should read

Meh...

I was excited to read it at first, then it became 1 whole book of prologue and introduction, and names that hurt my brain to remember (too many). It was already predictable who Hans is, but I’m more annoyed at the fact that I wasted my time trying to see when the story will start.. The book could have been condensed in a few chapters. I haven’t read the next book, but I’m wondering if I should, thinking I might suffer another torture. I like the plot, but… this book. One can compare it to watching a tv drama that you roll your eyes for letting the story drag so that they can fill up the time for its 30 plus episode run or a trilogy movie, where the last move is separated to part 1 and part 2 to drag it out ome more. I’m saying…. just read a summary of this book and a list of characters of who’s who and jump to book 2, which I’m hoping where the story finally gets exciting. ^^v

My Fantabulous Adventure

I went to Neverland to eat giant rabbits. I had read on C-Boogey that they were every goblin's dream food. I was right. I had to leave quickly, though, because of classifed events involving Narnia. I peered into the looking glass, and saw Alice. She was a lunatic. I rushed her to the mental hospital. She kept calling, wailing, screaming, for this book. I decided to grab my pretzel cigar, my best Sherlockian coat, and investigate. I went to the nearest dark alley, because I was under the impression that books were something trading in the Black Market. I got beat up. After rushing to the nearest real hospital. I crawled out of the window with my IV attached to my thyroid, (the doctor insisted I had cancer). Fortunately I found the book under Dumbo's armpit. I gave him some deodorant, so I could smuggle the book like it was a rare snail. I took the book back to my hobbit hole and sat down to read it. I liked it, so I posted my story. Currently, Alice has escaped from the mental hospital, and is right now breaking my china. I fear she is going to do the same to my bones, so I bid you reverse-salutations.
