‘I know all your secrets, Lauren.’
Lauren has spent years running away from her home town, her childhood and the memories of her best friend, Hannah.
Until the tenth anniversary of Hannah’s death forces her to return home and to the group of friends she abandoned there. It should be a quick visit, just so Lauren can pay her respects.
At home, Lauren finds Hannah’s old diary. A diary full of secrets. The terrible things Lauren did, the lies she’s told, the reason she ran away. And she receives a message:
‘I don’t know why you’re back, but I know why you left.’
But no-one else has seen the diary, and Hannah’s dead, isn’t she?
A suspenseful psychological thriller full of twists and turns – you won’t be able to stop turning the pages of The Diary. Perfect for fans of The Sister, The Girl on the Train and We Were Liars.

Flew through it
I wouldn’t exactly place this under a “psychological thriller” genre but it was a good story nonetheless! I flew through it! I thought the characters were easy to follow and the story flowed well. I thought Patis focused really well on some tough issues in a woman’s life, especially a young woman in high school. It’s a tough time and some of the challenges Lauren faced would have been very hard to overcome. As would some of the challenges the other girls faced. The grief & guilt she feels still ten years later is easily visible on the pages of The Diary. I felt like I truly knew Hannah. Very much reminded me of Pretty Little Liars meets 13 Reasons Why. But was a little disappointed with the ending. I wouldn’t exactly say it was a big climax that often occurs with psychological thrillers. But like I said, I probably wouldn't categorize it as such anyways. Special note: Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the e-ARC and allowing me the opportunity to read The Diary!!
