The Dragons of Nova
Book 2, Loom Saga
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Cvareh returns home to his sky world of Nova with the genius crafter Arianna as his temperamental guest. The mercurial inventor possesses all that his family needs to turn the tides of a centuries-old power struggle. But the keys to her mind must be earned with trust, something Ari has none of for the Dragon family responsible for the death of everything – and everyone – she once loved. Further complications abound as the political workings of the Dragon Court expose the shadowed past that haunts the woman he not only needs, but desires.
While Nova embroils itself in blood sport and political games, the rebels on Loom prepare for an all-out assault on their Dragon oppressors. Florence unexpectedly finds herself at the forefront of change, as her unique blend of skills and willingness to shoot to kill makes her a force to be reckoned with. For the future of her world, she vows vengeance against the Dragons.
But, for the rebellion to rise, the Guilds must fall.
About the Author
Elise Kova has always had a profound love of fantastical worlds. Somehow, she managed to focus on the real world long enough to graduate with a Master's in Business Administration before crawling back under her favorite writing blanket to conceptualize her next magic system. She currently lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, and when she is not writing can be found playing video games, watching anime, or talking with readers on social media. She is the USA Today bestselling author of the Air Awakens Series.
A book as lush and enthralling as it's cover
A very strong entry to the series, Dragons of Nova turns everything up. The stakes are higher as the political tensions of one world's near civil war brings it ever closer to a brewing rebellion from the world below it. And when people like the dragons do their political maneuvering by dueling to the death, every claw swipe keeps you reading faster and faster.
While midpoints in trilogies can often feel like a weak bridge between the beginning and the climax, Kova manages to escalate the action and intrigue in a way that keeps the reader turning each page while holding their breath. None of this is done at the sacrifice of setting as we learn so much more about the titular dragons and their Nova and even the lower world of Loom. The exploration and expansion of the lore opened up a new level of understanding and appreciation, not only for the setting, but also the characters motives. This book doesn't just bridge, it builds.
I'm not ashamed to say I was surprised quite often by this book, and it's nail biting ending has me itching for the finale.
A stunning second book in an amazing series
Once again Elise Kova has knocked it out of the park. I love how emotionally gripping this series is, and how everything is coated in a thin layer of grime and grit. There is fantasy and magic, romance and adventure to be had in this book, and yet it is all seen through the soot and filth that covers Nova itself. This is what sets this series apart from anything I have ever read, and it is perfectly executed. I continue to highly recommend this series and eagerly await the third book later this year.
