What isn't written, isn't remembered. Even your crimes. Nadia lives in the city of Canaan, where life is safe and structured, hemmed in by white stone walls and no memory of what came before. But every twelve years the city descends into the bloody chaos of the Forgetting, a day of no remorse, when each person's memories -- of parents, children, love, life, and self -- are lost. Unless they have been written. In Canaan, your book is your truth and your identity, and Nadia knows exactly who hasn't written the truth. Because Nadia is the only person in Canaan who has never forgotten. But when Nadia begins to use her memories to solve the mysteries of Canaan, she discovers truths about herself and Gray, the handsome glassblower, that will change her world forever. As the anarchy of the Forgetting approaches, Nadia and Gray must stop an unseen enemy that threatens both their city and their own existence -- before the people can forget the truth. And before Gray can forget her.

This is such fresh new book. Well written with characters that grab you right from the start. I know it is cliche' to say "I couldn't put it down" but I am being truthful when I say it this time. I got so wrapped up in the world that was created here. Phenomenal book. Buy this right now! I hope there is another book. I loved Nadia and Gray and want to know what happens next.
I really loved this book. It's a little confusing in some parts but as you read more it becomes clearer. I could not put it down. The concept was intriguing and really grabbed your attention. The main characters blended in with the concept but also stood out and made you really appreciate your own memory and the people that are important to you.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books with a slight romance, a big adventure and secrets that shock everyone. If you read you will learn a lot including why your memory is so important and what happens without it.
So good I finished it in a day
This is an EXCELLENT dystopian! I really loved the writing and the story line was completely new and different. I hope there are sequels!
