Publisher Description

When Abbey's best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead…and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. It only makes things worse that everyone now treats Abbey like either a freak show or a charity case. Thank goodness for Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen's funeral, and keeps reappearing in Abbey's life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he's the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again...but also special.
Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen's betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her—one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity.

Well...

I read this series a year ago, and it was terrible. So terrible, in fact, that it caught in my mind (becoming a special source of irritation earlier this week, when it started nagging at me as I struggled to remember the name of the books) and probably impacted my life in a major way. 😐 So terrible that it was hilarious, but I find myself reaaaaaally wanting to read them again. I'm not sure what it says about me that I'm reminiscent of these books and now want to go through the whole thing again, especially considering that it wasn't until this book was almost over that it actually started going somewhere. Like for the first 300+ pages (possible 400?) it was pointless and kinda dull. I can't even remember how all those pages got filled if there was no plot. But. That third book was crazy. 😂 And the ending was really confusing to explain to someone else. I guess if you get far enough into this, it becomes intruiging in a really, really weird way. As far as writing style, I give Verday a D at best. I've tried to wade through a lot worse.
