The indispensable handbook for Democrats
Voters cast their ballots for what they believe is right, for the things that make moral sense. Yet Democrats have too often failed to use language linking their moral values with their policies. The Little Blue Book demonstrates how to make that connection clearly and forcefully, with hands-on advice for discussing the most pressing issues of our time: the economy, health care, women’s issues, energy and environmental policy, education, food policy, and more. Dissecting the ways that extreme conservative positions have permeated political discourse, Lakoff and Wehling show how to fight back on moral grounds and in concrete terms. Revelatory, passionate, and deeply practical, The Little Blue Book will forever alter the way Democrats and progressives think and talk about politics.
Listen to Lakoff!
If Progressives and Democrats had been incorporating Lakoff's sound advice, based upon his academic background as a linguist - and changed their messaging to resonate with what the majority of this country believes- we would not be behind the 8 ball right now. Anyone who is interested in saving our Democracy and persuading others, be it through social media, or in person at family, friends and community gatherings - that our government should work for the 99% of our country, not the top elite - should get this book. I am getting this version for myself, to copy and paste Lakoff's verbiage directly into my communications, as well as as the traditional book version, for a friend who is also fighting for our country as well.
This book is a must read for all who believe progressivism and the protection of the ideals and values of our country. George Lakoff and Elisabeth Wehling have painted an informative picture of the reasons why progressives policies have taken hits over the set couple of years and how we can gain equal footing in policy making.
