A COPPER DANIELS SHORT STORY
“The lady cop slaps the cuffs behind Mama’s back, while the man officer rattles off her rights. Hearing those words up close is way worse than watching ‘em on TV. The whispers and stares from nearby gawkers prickle me as I follow behind Mama to the cop car.”
Ten-year-old Copper Daniels and her mama wake up to a crisis at their cemetery home – a missing body, followed by an arrest. The homeless girl faces a possible future in either foster care, or worse – juvie. Will the missing body be found, and will Copper survive with her family still intact?
The Moon Rises at Dawn is the short-story prequel to Marcy McKay’s novel, Pennies from Burger Heaven (Book #1 in the Lost Souls Mysteries).

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR
Q:What makes the Lost Souls Mysteries special?
A: In 2008, I drove through the gates of my local cemetery, and heard an imaginary voice whispering in my ear. It was a homeless girl who said that she and her mama lived at the Warrior Angel, but her mom had gone missing. I started writing the Lost Souls Mysteries that night to see what happened to Copper Daniels’ family, and to her life. I love Copper because she’s a strong female protagonist, with an unforgettable story.
Q: Why should readers give your books a try?
A: Because the Lost Souls Mysteries are fast paced action books, with complex characters and great plots. They’re intense stories that aren’t afraid to explore dark matters, but with humor and hope along the way. I enjoy exploring age-old themes: good versus evil, forgiveness, redemption, as well as love conquers all.
Q:Which eBook Categories can readers find the Lost Souls Mysteries?
Mystery, Thriller & Suspense
Action & Adventure
Coming of Age
Q: Where can readers connect with you?
A: Join my email list at marcymckay.com. I send out posts about once or twice a month, so I don’t hound people. I don’t have time. I’m too busy working on the next Lost Souls Mystery. Happy reading!
