"An author to watch out for." --RT Book Reviews
Some people follow the rules. . .
A professor of forensic anthropology, James Donovan is the reasonable sibling among the passionate, impulsive Donovans. But there's nothing reasonable about his reaction to baker Gracie Roberts. She's all wild curls and mouth-watering curves, as deliciously tempting as the sugary treats she's famous for--and twice as irritating. But before long, James decides that getting a taste of her is one indulgence he can't pass up. . .
Some people play to win. . .
Independent, smart, and sexy, Gracie's year-long dry spell has her itching for a man. Responsible, health-obsessed James? Not in a million years! She needs a guy who knows how to let loose! But when James sets out to show her just how satisfying a disciplined man can be when pleasure is at stake, she learns just how sweet--and spicy--he really is.

I loved this Fabulous story! This was a Fun story full of humor, flirty banter and steamy passion. I really liked that it was told from dual POV's which I loved. Excellent writing that captivated me. A great story with great details. I was hooked from the beginning to end.
Adored James and Gracie. The push and pull and their constant bickering was driving their family and friends crazy. Gracie loves to push his buttons and antagonize him, she found it impossible not to engage him. They shared a instant dislike of each other when they met each other 18 months ago. Everything about him irritated her, lucky for James no one knew of his lust for Gracie, with her sharp tongue that the made him hard, as well as her fantasy inducing assets, and her wickedly sexy good natured charm. The tension between them is delicious and so fun that I was laughing out loud while I was reading. So when they are asked to call a truce and different family and friends speculate that the way they argue may be a cover for a underlying interest in each other. They both struggle with that possibility and soon realize their issues with each other is from attraction. Being total opposites they have a magnetic attraction that they can't ignore. Their sizzling, chemistry is combustible and your finger will feel the burn with every flip of the page.
So when Gracie finally decides that she can't fight it anymore, that she just want to do it and get it over with and absolutely out of their system, James turns her down. He explains that he doesn't do one night stands, he doesn't sleep with anyone that doesn't respect him. But they do share a explosive kiss when she is about to leave and they both realize that there is more to their attraction, agreeing that they need to spend a week end together. Their week end is spent getting to know each other with a lot of flirting and getting sloppy drunk. The first time they have sex I thought my kindle was going to combust, the dialogue and descriptive is just so HOT! Loved James and his controlling ways, oh heck yeah. That man was sex on a stick. More than that though, he was so sweet and I loved his more vulnerable moments as well as seeing him come undone. There is also a great collection of secondary characters that contributed to the fun in this story. So if you love a hate/love story with plenty of angst and sexy love scenes this is the story for you.
This is definitely a new author for me that I will be following , and I am going to have to purchase the previous stories in this series because I need more of the angst and sexy, steamy scenes, that was abundant in this story to get me through until the next story is released. LOVED IT! Highly Recommended!
Received a free copy through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
Plenty of heart, solid heat and lots of laughs make this a wonderful story.
The first I have read in this series, the premise was cute and I was curious about the story. Antagonists to lovers, and what better way than happy go lucky baker with a penchant for delectable desserts and an aversion to exercise coming face to face with a geeky, reserved professor that runs marathons, prefers health food to tasty food an can’t help but analyze every situation? Here we go!
Gracie and James are instantly rubbing each other the wrong way when they meet because of the upcoming wedding. Gracie is simply delectable, from her gorgeous desserts (I was hungry from the first description) to her cheery attitude with a touch of devil-may-care, she was the perfect balance for James. And who doesn’t love a geek who (most probably) has cue cards for conversation topics in his pocket, but comes with a full array of Dr. Who t-shirts and references? These two are convinced they have nothing in common – but that attraction. It zings around the room like fireworks. If they could only stop sniping and jibing one another.
But then – they take a chance. And whooo boy does James show just how take charge he is! Dawson uses their attraction to dance with BDSM experimentation in all the right ways: communication and limit setting, with only a couple of hiccups. And those are when James just ‘knows’ that he can sort a problem for Gracie better than she can. He wasn’t being a jerk, but he was approaching things from the deadly I know better perspective, something that in the many telephone conversations they had, he should have realized NOT to do. Fortunately, they had built a solid connection even as they were not together a great deal, and Gracie was able to see his point, get angry and move forward within a reasonable time. These two are delightful: funny, clever and honest – and able to share most everything, keeping the reading moving forward quickly. You can’t help but to cheer them on, even after you reach for a cool drink from their steamy moments. Plenty of heart, solid heat and lots of laughs make this a wonderful story.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Amazing banter in this romantic story
The chemistry between the two characters is great. Add in their families and friends and it's a full story with laughter and heartbreak. I would have added more in the epilogue as it seemed too short. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.
