Found in the desert sands of the Weepingwaste when she was only a tiny newborn babe, a shepherdess named Livid is oddly colorless. That is to say, her whole person is made up of varying shades of gray, and to most who see her, she seems dreadfully ill. Being a foundling, her past is a complete mystery. The only clue to her true origins is a reoccurring nightmare of a vast, black, and turbulent sea.
Meanwhile, far to the west, a bard named Curesoon has been seeking to find his wife and their three sons. Thus engaged in a search to find his family, the lonely bard sits on the edge of the black bog of Miremurk where he makes ready to enter. Dark tales have been whispered about the place, and though he has tried to dismiss them as fables, a tiny sliver of fear tells him that there may be more truth to the rumors then he cares to admit.
With his first step into the shadows of Miremurk, Curesoon unknowingly embark upon an adventure that will draw in many, including even the gray-maiden named Livid.
