The Pony Club

The seemingly pastoral bliss of Noble, a small interior BC town, explodes into scandal and outrage when the arrival of the Lipizzaner stallion show disrupts the quaint style and day-to-day living of the local Pony club membership. No one, it seems, from the highest office in the city to the local motorcycle gang, the business community or the mothers and wives of the club members are immune to the rabble of protest when a single man, two cups over his limit, causes a demanding club president to try to exact her vengeance on his effrontery. The intervention of police and lawyers ensure hostilities build to a climax as the thin veil of reputations fall like bowling pins as a result of the peeling back of social layers in front of the Supreme Court Judge's bench. This narrative is a portrait that leaves the reader to decide whether it is truth or innuendo, lies and half-truths that draw this raw, often hysterically funny, always compelling sketch of life in small-town BC.
