Description

My path of drug addiction, depression and spiritual decay led me to a place where there was no use for doctors, social workers, psychiatrists or medications. The people who had a hand in saving my life were just a group of junkies. Recovered junkies. There was a glow within them that was unmistakable. I’d never seen sober addicts who carried such strength, peace, wisdom, and a willingness to help others for nothing in return. I asked myself how were these people so okay? Why weren’t they struggling anymore? Why didn’t they need people, places, pills, doctors or self-help gurus to get them better? And for some reason the universe conspired to bring me to this place. This memoir tracks my descent into paralyzing depressions and chronic drug addiction, and describes in detail the process I undertook to recover and to develop a spiritual life that has brought untold miracles.

The Privileged Addict

There are many books about addiction whose authors describe in detail what it is like getting high, scoring drugs, being ostracized from their families, etc. Mr. Peabody describes what he is thinking and feeling during his journey through addiction. This is a book filled with answers and hope. As a parent of an addicted child, hope is desperately needed. Thank you, Mr. Peabody!

Read This Book

You will recognize yourself somewhere in Charlie's account, whatever your level of addiction. The book is a page-turner, a great read, and I suspect a book that will change lives. Do yourself a favor and read it.
