The Sea Queen
#1, Dark Queens
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Calypso, Queen of the Seas, is mad. Spitting mad. Ghosts of the dead are fouling her waters. She wants this problem fixed, and she wants it fixed now. Rushing off in search of Hades, Lord of the Underworld, to demand answers, she’s soon shocked to discover him bound and standing trial before a jury of his peers—for nothing less than murder.
Calypso normally despises the beastly gods, all of them, but there’s something about seeing Hades bound as he is that gives her an evilly clever idea. Tired of being a virgin queen, she wishes to shed that boring image once and for all, and no one seems quite as fit for the task as the gorgeous and brooding Hades. Of course, there is the minor problem of murder to deal with, but Calypso is bound and determined to have her way.
And when a dark queen gets an idea, nothing and no one can stand in her way…
Amazing! Brilliant! A Must Have!
I was gifted a copy for an honest review!
This book is everything I hoped for and more! I normally don't like many first person books but this it the BEST! Like Disney/Fairy Tales! Like a book that takes you into its world and you never want it to end? Then I suggest you buy this book. I adore Jovee's style of writing. Her world building is Phenomenal! I never pictured Calypso and Hades together but I'm glad Jovee did. The things Calypso says will make you laugh a lot. The way Jovee makes you feel as if the places in the book are real and you so badly want to visit. ( I'm still looking for a door!) She is a brilliant write who makes you see everything as she visions it.
I could gush on and on about this book all day I also recommend ANY of her books because once calypso gets you hooked you'll never get enough. I promise, you won't be disappointed.
clever and unique
A wonderful mix of myth, fantasy and humor all highlight this book, the first in a new series. Calypso is an ‘original’, older than the Gods of Olympus, more powerful than ever they imagined, with a penchant for bad subterfuge, her pet shark Bruce and an insatiable curiosity.
A giant toddler at times, Calypso’s desire for Hades and to learn about all things sex bring the two into close proximity, and the battle for who reigns supreme in their relationship is a wild ride. Through it all, we get to see the insecurities that they both have, the not particularly likeable Hermes, Zeus and Demeter, learn about the perennially spoilt Persephone and the jealous Poseidon. Even more fun to meet are Artemis and the goddess of Justice who has a passion for loud music and dancing. These characters all met and conflict in varying ways, not unlike a family with petty jealousies, hurts, prejudices and agendas.
But, as she works to discover who is behind the plot to frame Hades, and just where Persephone is being held, Calypso comes to discover her true need for the relationship and companionship that he has brought. With several clever and unique creatures, great dialogue and some steamy moments this story was a quick and clever read, with plenty of promise for more.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Love love love another amazing story!!
I can't imagine a more perfect story for the sea queen!! Hades rocks!! It was so much fun to read. As always the kingdom series never fails to deliver!!
Highly recommend this title and all the others as well! Read them in order or not doesn't matter. They stand alone but are better in succession since characters intertwine sometimes. Keep on writing I'll keep reading. Hurry with the next book!
