The New York Times bestselling author of The Ghost War and The Faithful Spy

CIA agent John Wells has spent years in the company of evil men. He's paid the price and is beginning to doubt if he can ever live a normal life. And when a powerful adversary from his past finds him, Wells must once again enter the fray.

For his country. For his soul. For revenge...

From Publishers Weekly

Dec 15, 2008 – Bestseller Berenson's well-plotted and thoughtful third thriller to feature CIA agent John Wells (after The Ghost War) finds Wells and his fellow CIA agent and fiancée, Jenny Exley, living happily together in Washington, D.C., content to devote themselves to fighting the forces of evil. One morning, while stuck in traffic on their way to CIA headquarters, men on motorcycles attack them in their minivan. Exley suffers a serious gunshot injury in an act of revenge by minions of Pierre Kowalski, an enemy from an earlier book. Meanwhile, jihadists bent on destroying America steal two small atomic bombs. These extremely clever villains, per Berenson's style, aren't mad dog idiots but credible characters with reasons, at least from their own perspective, to be doing the great evil they're planning. Fast and furious when it needs to be, this is a welcome addition to an excellent series. Berenson won an Edgar for his first novel, The Faithful Spy.

The Silent Man

An excellent book, this is a thrill ride of epic proportions. A must have for all John Wells fans.

The Silent Man

As anyone who has lived this kind of life or some of the various parts of it can tell you, trust in others is rare. The life, by necessity, is lonely. The writer does a good job of capturing this feeling and the action moves along at a good pace. A good read!

I been reading about John Wells from the start. Since the time I read The Faithful Spy, I find hard to read any other books except books about him. I'm just hooked I'm always thinking about what he is going to stop next. I really found it hard to put this book down. I would read in some down time at work and just get lost in the story and lose track of time. Then the boss would yell and I'd snap back. But all and all an amazing 5 star novel.
