The Trouble With Sexy

Book 2, A Rock Canyon, Idaho Novella - (Originally appeared in the e-book anthology KISS ME)

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

Description

Previously appeared in the anthology Kiss Me.

Fact: Ryan Ashton has never been the hottest girl in the room. Prim and proper doesn't really lend itself to sexy, but Ryan's okay with that. She's come to terms with her perpetual single status. Or at least she would have, if it weren't for her deliciously gorgeous boss.

Fact: Gregg Phillips is sex on a stick. And Ryan knows that if she wants him to sit up and take notice of her, she's gotta take a chance … and ditch the frumpy librarian look she's been rocking for way too long.

It's gonna take a whole new wardrobe and the help of the local sex kitten to make it happen, but Ryan's up for it. After all, true love is worth the trouble—and that's a fact.

Customer Reviews

a great lunch-break read

A sparkling little novella leaving me with few complaints but still wanting more. Codi Gary brings a friends to lovers story to light, as Ryan sheds her old image to grab the attention of her boss Gregg.

Ryan never thought of herself as sexy: she’s hidden her light behind conservative clothes and an introverted approach to the world, but this isn’t who she is. Bold, thoughtful, opinionated and far feistier than her appearance would indicate, her last-ditch effort to impress Gregg by shedding her buttoned-down look is the premise for this story. While her change of image is started for one reason, Ryan takes on the questions this change brings forward, using the opportunities to embrace her ‘real’ self, gaining in confidence and voice.

Gregg is sexy, but like most men in that ‘friendship’ role with a woman, he is utterly unable to process this newer more confident, confrontational and ‘just where did the comfortable Ryan run off to’ person that is facing him mow. Not at all a bad guy, he’s just occasionally clueless, but this change has him utterly confused, but intrigued. His old friend Ryan was great as she was: reliable, easygoing and willing to take his guidance. This one is more willing to challenge him, with a temper and a stubbornness he never saw before. It’s cute to see him learn to adjust his impressions of who Ryan is, and understand that the new image is part of her growing up. He is getting a chance to really know Ryan, and it’s one that has him determined to pay attention this time.

A wonderful little story about relationship and personal growth that is the perfect read to put a smile on your face. Originally part of an anthology and now a singular release, this would be a great lunch-break read over a day or two, sure to make you laugh and smile.

I received an eBook copy of the title from the publisher via Edelweiss for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
