Fans of acclaimed author Kendare Blake’s Anna Dressed in Blood will devour her latest novel, a dark and inventive fantasy about three sisters who must fight to the death to become queen.
In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.
But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose...it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins.
The last queen standing gets the crown.

Amazing.. Highly Recommend!
I got this in my owlcrate subscription, and right away I loved it.. I love anything that has to do with magic or "witches" any type of powers.. right now I'm close to the end of the book, I'm about to start "The Quickening" and I'm so sad that I'm almost done with this book, I love all the "Queens" and the characters they're surrounded by, Arsinoe is definitely my favorite (which Katherine was at first) but anyway, this book has been amazing! (& I know there has been mixed reviews but I disagree completely it's a great book) And I'm so happy that I got this book in my subscription.. I wish I wasn't almost done with it and it would go on forever.... but it's a great book! I highly recommend reading it!
"Three dark queens are born in a glen, sweet little triplets will never be friends -- Three dark sisters all fair to be seen, two to devour and one to be Queen"
I actually think this is what made me pick up the book and start reading, it just made it sound interesting and it is very interesting...
An engaging premise but overlong.
After the first third very little happens until the last few chapters.
