Ticket to Love

This book can be downloaded and read in Apple Books on your Mac or iOS device.

The first ticket I wrote him was for a parking violation, the second was in a pedestrian zone, the third ... I never wrote that one ... that was our ticket to love.

Until it wasn't.

Turns out my one-night stand is actually my best friend's wedding planner. He's hanging out in our small town, meeting with my friends, negotiating deals, and oh—he's also the main suspect in my first police investigation. The case I must solve to become a detective. And the crux of it all? I'm falling head over heels for the guy.

I've dreamed my whole life of this promotion. I thought I'd never find love. Now I'm afraid I might lose both.

3.5 Stars

Ticket to Love was a straight-forward romance with a cozy mystery element that helped make it a page-turner. The descriptive writing detailing the town and environs were a highlight. The exact kind of town that I would love to visit and explore. While I found both the H/h very likable, the romance was fairly sedate with some added conflict due to the mystery. If not for the mystery, I might have set the book aside. Matthews did a great job keeping me invested and interested in the outcome. Overall, enjoyable with added interest into the romances of possible future characters. (This is my voluntary and unbiased review of a complimentary copy of Ticket to Love via Ebook Discovery.)

Delightful story!

Kristy is a police officer and a sixth-generation descendant of one of the founding families of the Cedar Falls, Michigan. Sheldon/Don Cooper is visiting Cedar Falls to help his sister adjust to moving there. They meet when Kristy writes Don a ticket for illegally parking his SUV. He receives a second ticket in short order from Kristy, and thus begins this interesting relationship. Unfortunately, there are questions and complications, and crimes and false accusations abound. Kristy wants to be a detective, so she spends time investigating all suspects, even when she’s sure they are innocent.

This story kept me intrigued. I thought I might know who was causing all of the trouble, but there was a major wrench toward the end that made me question everything!

I love the way these characters interact and I enjoyed the friendships that were portrayed. It seems like this is a stand-alone book that might be part of a larger series of books about this family-and now I’m interested in reading more.

Kristy starts off as a character finding her footing and does get stronger throughout the book. She realizes she has made some poor choices as far as describing her relationship with Don. After a period of introspection, she finally ‘mans up’ and doesn’t accept the small-minded limitations that have been imposed on her any longer. I loved this part of the book, because she finally grew into her powerful self!
