Willa Doon has always been shy. Her quiet demeanor was something she’s always embraced. That is, until Jackson Page moves to town. The one man she desperately wants to take notice struggles to remember her name.
Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender slash playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he’s seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman.
Except what he doesn’t remember is that this visit isn’t his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he’s forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila.
A night that crushed a timid girl’s heart, and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.
Really enjoyed this one!
This was a great story! I was a little nervous going in that the h would be a dormat (I mean - the title is timid) but Willa was wonderful. And I really liked Jackson too. Great story, great setting. Recommend this book!
Worth the wait
Gosh I’ve been anticipating this book for weeks and with good reason. Lark Cove is quickly becoming a favorite series of mine. I mean the men in this series are just swooooony. I knew just from the little bit we knew of Jackson from Tattered that I would love him and I was not disappointed. He was a little slow on the uptake but once he realized what everyone in Lark Cove already knew it was pretty much game on. I loved Willa and her spirit. She’s a beautiful soul with an amazing heart. She gave Jackson a love he never knew but deserved so much. I loved watching their relationship blossom and Jackson’s guard fall. Him gaining family and watching him realize his circle was now bigger than just Thea, Hazel and Charlie made my heart happy.
The twist in this book though really threw me! I never saw it coming and the repercussions were even more astounding. But through it all Willa stood tall and even when Jackson didn’t want her to she had his back. This amazing couple is one of my new favorites
Each time I sit to read a Devney Perry book, I know frustration will come into play. I know a bit of disappointment will be part of my emotional journey . . . not because her books make me feel that way, but I will have to stop. For work, for food, for life.
Yet, I find life in her books, and her characters. This woman totally amazes me, and spending a day in her head is truly on my bucket list. She has done nothing but improve over time, if you can improve on greatness.
Timid, the 2nd book in the Lark Cove series is just as enthralling as the first. As always Devney gives me geninue people. People I know, I can relate to and are just as true to me as any family or friends I may have.
Willa is a sweet, timid girl that crushed on a boy. She grew into a woman that loved a man. Jackson is a man with demons that met a girl. He lost his way as life became real.
Forgetting can be a painful thing, and remembering can be a hurtful reality. The growth we see in these two characters as they deal with the task of rediscovering each other is touching. I think that is what makes Devney so special, her characters are touching.
As she maneuvers me through the journey these two take, I am somehow transported to a small town where I know my neighbors. Where everyone is in each other's lives. Where you cheer for the hometown boy and girl, and where love reigns supreme.
Each book that Devney writes becomes my new favorite and demands 5 stars. Timid keeps the tradition going.
