The New York Times bestseller that is profane, honest, and contains totally wise sh*t from one of America’s most original voices.
That Kevin Smith? The guy who did Clerks a million years ago? Didn’t they bounce his fat ass off a plane once? What could you possibly learn from the director of Cop Out? How about this: He changed filmmaking forever when he was twenty-three, and since then, he’s done whatever the hell he wants. He makes movies, writes comics, owns a comic book store, and has built a podcasting empire.
Tough Sh*t is the dirty business that Kevin has been digesting for forty-two years and now he’s ready to put it in your hands. Kevin provides you with a blueprint for success, taking you through some big moments in his life to help you live your days in as Gretzky a fashion as you can: going where the puck is gonna be. Read all about how a zero like Smith managed to make ten movies with no discernible talent and how when he had everything he thought he’d ever want, he decided to blow up his own career.
Having long been a fan of Kevin Smith, I have read every book, watched every film, sucked up every bit of television clips, interviews, etc. The man never ceases to amaze me. Not only is he a brilliant man, he's also a sensitive and loving man, this book further proves that. From the stories about family, the hypocrisy of the world in general to hilarious insight into the weird world of entertainment, he nails it. Not one to become "Hollywood", he tells it from our perspective, the "normies". I loved Kevin Smith before, I absolutely adore him now. To read such loving words about his wife, daughter, father, mother, the late great George Carlin and his view on the absurdity that is entertainment and business is completely inspiring and should be considered required reading for any and everyone!
A great guy
This guy is soooo real you just want to sit down and have a beer with him and talk. I haven't read his other two books, but this one was funny and insightful .... Loved it start to finish
Good book, needs more pages!
I enjoyed reading this so much I gave it 4 stars simply because I felt it was too short and I wished he had written more to read.
