Walden is an American book written by noted Transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, and voyage of spiritual discovery, satire, and manual for self reliance. Published in 1854, it details Thoreau's experiences over the course of 2 years in a cabin he built near Walden Pond, amidst woodland near Concord, MA.
Thoreau did not intend to live as a hermit, for he received visitors regularly, and returned their visits. Rather, he hoped to isolate himself from society to gain a more objective understanding of it. Audio Player Problem
In the iBooks store screenshots, the audiobook player shows a progress bar with a playhead that one could slide around to find the spot where you left off. After purchasing I found that the embedded player (using iBooks 1.10 - 1289 on macOS Sierra 10.12.5) did not have a playhead. The only option was to start the chapter at the beginning. Any time I would refresh the page by increasing/decreasing text size, or otherwise tinkering with the reading environment, the player would start over at the beginning. It also does not save your place in the audiobook when quitting iBooks. I wonder if this is a coding problem from iBooks or one from the digitizer of the book.
The book is great so far by the way - a necessary wake up call for living in today’s world.
