Book 2, Take the Fall - A Take the Fall Novel
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
“Your heart will pound, you’ll laugh, you’ll feel, and you’ll definitely swoon,” raves Katy Evans. In this captivating novel in Marquita Valentine’s Take the Fall series, a small-town sweetheart takes a chance on the bad boy who’s always been her hottest fantasy.
The last time Piper Ross saw her best friend’s sexy older brother, Jase Simmons, he was being taken away in handcuffs. Seven years later, two things haven’t changed: Piper is still head-over-heels in love with him . . . and Forrestville’s chief of police—Piper’s dad—still hates his guts. So when Piper sees a chance to get close to Jase, she makes her move—literally. As his new roommate, and as the office manager of his tattoo shop, Piper won’t be satisfied until Jase knows that she wants to be his.
The quintessential good girl, Piper is pure temptation for Jase. The only reason he’s always kept his distance is because she’s the last person he’d ever want to hurt. But once he realizes that Piper is ready to take the leap, everything just makes sense. Suddenly Jase feels like a new man—until nasty rumors start swirling and Piper’s heartless father stirs up even more trouble. Now Jase must convince Piper that she wasn’t wrong about him . . . because falling in love never felt so right.

When we fall
What a great series! ❤️
Piper has loved Jase since she was 14 years old. But circumstances always seemed to keep them apart. Piper comes from a rich, controlling family. Her parents are horrible people. They are emotionally cold towards her. So as a child she was very shy, timid, and had a stutter, which her mother makes fun of. What mother does this? She also has bad case of asthma, which her parents refer to as “her disgusting condition”. While others may have treated her badly, Jase never did. He always made an effort to acknowledge her in school. Jase comes from the other side of the tracks. He was recently paroled for attempted murder, which by the way he did not commit. Piper’s father is the Chief of Police and because he did not like those Simons’ boys he made sure Jase was put in jail. After seven years, Jase is released. When Jase first got out of prison all he was interested in was alcohol, and women. But despite this, part of his heart always belonged to Piper. Jase and Piper were two good people who really cared for each other. They just needed to spend time together to realize it. Jase was so sweet. He went out of his way to learn how to give Piper her inhaler when she needed it, made sure the house was professionally cleaned since dust could set off her asthma and even went to the doctors with Piper to learn how to prevent asthma attack during sex. Towards the end, Piper began to find her voice. She became stronger and more confident. This was a very enjoyable read. This is the second book I have read by this author and I am always pleased at the writing style and storyline. It was well written. The characters are likeable. .
