Nate: He's been in love with Quinn since junior high. She's always been his fierce protector, the one person who looks beyond his physical challenges to see who he really is. But Nate knows the hard truth. Leo holds Quinn's heart. He's the one she loves.
Quinn: She's tired of waiting for Leo to realize that he loves her. But when he finally admits his feelings for her, can they be together without destroying their friendship--and each other?
Leo: He's the football star, the guy all the girls in school want. But the one girl he secretly needs--Quinn--is the one he's afraid to want. He knows she's too good for him, but he can't seem to resist loving her anyway.
Amid the joys and heartache of first love, crushing loss and unthinkable decisions, Leo, Quinn and Nate struggle to find their way forward without losing each other.
Love this book!
This book is one of the reasons I love to read! The feelings this book gives me is something that you can't find just anywhere. The characters have flaws but that is what makes them feel so real. Do yourself a favor get this book get in a comfortable spot and read it. You won't regret it!
Tawdra never disappoints!
This is the beginning of a new series by Tawdra Kandle that I was fortunate enough to get to beta read. It's a great story about Quinn, Nate, and Leo, three friends who grow up together after their mothers become friends following meeting in a prenatal class. This story takes us briefly through elementary school, to give us some background on the characters, into high school and graduation. As friends tend to do in that timeframe, they drift apart at times but, when it counts, are there for each other. It's a love triangle where you will love and dislike the characters at different times.
Nate was born with a disease that leaves him unable to do all the things "normal" kids do. Quinn is very soft-hearted and always stays by Nate's side so he doesn't feel left out. Leo is the football star who rounds out the trio. Not to give too much away but Nate is in love with Quinn, while Quinn is in love with Leo.
Nate, Quinn, and Leo. The three musketeers. Friends since before they were even born. Then life happens. They remain friends, but things never remain the same or as simple as they have always been. I love everything about this book. It leaves you cheering when things go the right way, wanting to wring their necks when they won't see what you want them to see, and knowing exactly what it is they are feeling at any given time. We have all been there. This book is extremely reminiscent. It will strike a chord with you no matter what group you identified with in high school.
Tawdra has done an amazing job with this story. It is unlike any other of hers that I have read. It is real. It is relatable. It is one that will leave you saying at some point in the story, "I've been there."
