Before the Baudelaires became orphans, before he encountered A Series of Unfortunate Events, even before the invention of Netflix, Lemony Snicket was a boy discovering the mysteries of the world.
In a fading town, far from anyone he knew or trusted, a young Lemony Snicket began his apprenticeship in an organization nobody knows about. He started by asking questions that shouldn't have been on his mind. Now he has written an account that should not be published, in four volumes that shouldn't be read. This is the first volume.

I LOVED this book!!!
Lemony Snicket is an amazing author. I read A Series of Unfortunate Events a while before I read this. I was walking through the bookstore looking for the next book in a series I was reading. While I was scanning through the shelves my eye caught the words Lemony Snicket. All I could think was he has another book!!! I read the summary on the back and was kind of confused what it was about and if I should buy it or not. So, I looked it up on my phone and read that it was about Lemony Snicket as a child training for V.F.D. I immediately grabbed the book and bought it. I finished it in two days, and was dying to read the next book. This is definitely a must read.
Very Fine Detective
This is an exciting quick read. It is clearly the beginning of a new series, so don't expect to much resolution of major plot threads. It's clever and delightful and you'll probably enjoy it if your a fan of Mr.Snicket's (Daniel Handler) other work.
