One of the best books I've ever read! After reading this book and Tim Ferriss's book the Four Hour Body, I've dropped 30 lbs in three months. The only problem w the book is how pissed it's going to make you about how wrong everything you were taught eating healthy is.
Now I know why...
I of course, have struggled with my weight all of my life. There have been times that I have starved myself to the point of passing out while mowing the lawn or taking a shower. Even then I would not eat more than a lettuce leaf and a cracker (now knowing this is one of the bad carbs) per day. Even after waking from passing out and a stay in the hospital for dehydration I still would not eat more than the lettuce leaf and cracker because I knew I would gain weight if I did. I lost weight, a lot of weight actually and fast. The problem was that as soon as I would eat more than a lettuce leaf and a cracker I would start to gain the weight back. People around me thought I was hiding and eating. I knew I wasn't but there was no convincing them and I still could not figure out what or how the 'healthy foods' I was eating was making me gain weight so fast not to mention the starving feeling all day. I gave up. My highest weight was 285.6 lbs. Since I have started this new life after reading this book, I have already lost 35 lbs and feel great. With that being said, it's still not easy for me. I'm still wanting fruit especially and will eat a little here and there (berries mostly). Milk has me torn apart every day because I have drank a glass every morning since I can remember....I have started drinking almond milk from Trader Joe's and it's helping. I even froze some with strawberries in it because this brings me to my next weakness, ice cream! I struggle no less and hope that I can get past cravings and remain on this way of living. What has out weighed the cravings is that I'm not feeling like I'm starving myself and I don't ever seem to get hungry (unless I completely skip a meal or not eat anything after breakfast). In short, this book and research makes sense to me and answers so many questions for me. Thank you to the author and scientists.

TRUST ME! THIS BOOK WORKS! I could never maintain my weight, but after reading and following Mr. Taubes instructions I have lost 25LBS. I keep the weight off. I read through the reviews, and anyone saying this book dosen't work is WRONG!! People just want to eat carbohydrate foods! That is the only way you can disagree with this book. Trust me I love carbs!!! I love carbs! Giving them up took this book! I recommend it to everyone I know! If you are looking for a gift for a love one, this book is it! For those suffering with cravings, just try a tablespoon of salt. It works! Mr Taubes has changed my life! Everyone at work has noticed the weight I have lost. None of them will try it though. My boss is trying, but it hard. We love carbs, and giving them up is a challenge. I would suggest you start with sweets! Use those zero carb sugars and drink diet sodas. Read every review here on the itunes site! YOU DON"T NEED EXERCISE! Trust me I have slowed my work outs and have NO problem maintaining my weight. I eat when I want even before going to bed!!
