Book 3, Wicked Nights (Stark World)
This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.
Outwardly, Noah Carter is riding high as the tech world’s hottest new genius. Inside, he’s still reeling from the abduction of his wife and baby daughter eight years ago, and then the devastating discovery of his child’s body. For years, he kept up hope that his wife was alive, but now that she’s been declared legally dead, he’s thrown himself even more deeply into his work, cutting himself off from emotional ties because they just hurt too damn much.
Then he meets Kiki Porter, an eternal optimist with a killer work ethic and dreams of fronting a band. And everything changes. Even though he tries his damnedest to fight it…
Sexually, they are combustible together. But their true fire is emotional, though it is a slow to burn. But once it lights, it is all consuming. The relationship grows emotionally, the sex is hot, things are good.
But just when it’s looking like they might have a real future together, the past comes back to haunt them. And Noah’s going to have to decide what he’s willing to give up for love …
All Wicked Novels Stand Alone
I love reading about all the Stark characters. The pull between doing what his heart wants and what he thinks is right...consumes Noah. Past hurts are just that. Can Kiki move forward with this knowledge? Can a decade away soothe these too? Or will the past forever haunt them?
Honestly I read the first line and when I got as far as “Stark International’s newest tech genius” I felt a weight off my shoulders, took and deep breathe...it was like a sense of coming home. I just get sucked into these books and can not get enough of this series. They are so well written and as satisfying as each book is they leave you greedy for more.
“I’m not saying you need to marry her. But put yourself out there. Interact with the world. Start breathing again, man. Trust me. It’s worth it.”
He is fueled by a sense of loss, guilt, failure, fear and yet his wants are just as strong. Can he be selfish and go after her again? Does he deserve a second chance after walking away once before? Can he join the land of the living and get passed his guilt?
“He’s the man who ripped her heart into tiny shreds—and then stomped on it. She’d believed he was the love of her life, but then he left, and his departure left her confused and reeling.”
So many secrets, unanswered questions , and anger still fill her up. How can she trust that this time he’ll stay? Can she survive him walking away again? Is it worth not exploring a second chance and protecting her heart...
“I don’t know how long we stand like that, breathing each other’s air, seeing each other’s thoughts. It seems no longer than an instant; it seems like forever.”
Another good read in the Stark World
This was another good read in the Stark World. Kiki and Noah are getting a second chance at a romance that ended ten years before. The break up shaped them both and helped to make them into the people they are today.
Noah is a damaged hero who blames himself for things he had no power to change. One thing has always stayed the same...his love for Kiki. Kiki is broken from her break up with Noah years ago. She has never really healed and now that he's back in her life, she doesn't know if she can keep him in the friend zone. Or if she wants to.
These characters are both a little damaged. I found myself rooting for them to give their love a second chance. I loved catching up with some of my favorite Stark characters who popped into this one. Another good read in this series.
